Superb walking and cycling country, it is well placed for touring Teesdale and the Yorkshire Dales. Barnard Castle 13 miles, Durham City 18 miles and Newcastle 32 miles. The Lake District 1 hour away. The property is adjacent to the owners well-landscaped caravan park which has privately owned caravans only and therefore is very quiet. Shop 165 yards, pub 550 yards.

  5. Great house, every time we opened a cupboard we found more plates, cutlery, fondues, punch bowls etc didn’t really need to take anything other than food and drink. Great lounges (we only managed to use one of them) pool table and bar were the focal point. The black bull well worth a visiting, but booking advised. A great weekend thank you. Sept 2011.

Good all round holiday with plenty to do in the area, we started at Light Water Valley, went to Wet N Wild, visited the Metro centre, went to the mines and nature walk, went to the outside go karting and visited the local village pubs, had a bbq went to the Italian in the village, it was great food. On the way home we visited the waterfalls then on to Mother Shiptons caves. A great all round holiday with the family, we will do it again. Aug 2011.

A wonderful location where there are plenty of walks to do, sights to see further afield if you want to , or just laze about in the lovely grounds, or in the house - there are enough rooms for everyone to enjoy space as well as the company of others, and the kitchen and dining rooms were excellently placed. The caravan site next door is not obtrusive - didn’t hear any noise at all. The surrounding neighbours are friendly and so are the shopkeepers and local pubs too. Would definately recommend it.   8. We took the house for a weekend to celebrate our son’s 30th birthday. We were a party of 15 but others joined us for meals on both days. Dining table was great size to get everyone around also house was very well equipped for that number of people. Perhaps a larger fridge and freezer would have helped. I had a large food delivery and it was difficult to store everything that needed to be kept cold. Plenty of space for people to sit comfortably in the rest of the house. Bedrooms comfortable. Nice outside space and the nearby recreation ground allowed the lads to have a game of football. The interior design of the house is a bit dated but that’s being a bit picky and it didn’t detract at all from it’s many good points. June 2011.

Thanks for a fabulous weekend it was my 50th birthday so we had a family gathering, my father, me, my husband, 3 sons and their partners and 2 young grandchildren and there was more than enough space in the house to not feel as if we were all on top of each other, the games room was brilliant, the house was so well equipped with everything, the only downfall was the weather but not al ot you can do about that. we will be returning. June 2011.
  10. Very spacious. We were a group of 10 family members, there was plenty of room with 2 large lounges which meant we weren’t under each others feet. The pool table was very popular. Feb 2011.
