Property Description

With extensive views over the surrounding countryside from this pretty beamed holiday cottage, which boasts a separate garden room built within its large garden to take advantage of the fine views. One of a pair set back from the main road, it has been restored to retain many of its original features and lies just 3 miles from Battle, an area awash with the history of the Norman Conquest of 1066. Winchelsea with its unspoilt shingle beach, historic Hastings and Rye are further afield, golf course within 5 miles, with many castles and NT properties to visit in the area. Walking and cycling routes locally. Shops 200 yards, pub 50 yards.

Beamed living/dining room with wood-burning stove in large fire surround. Two steps to modern well-equipped farmhouse-style fitted kitchen with tiled floor. Utility. External garden room with shower room and toilet. First floor: Three beamed bedrooms; one double, one twin and one single. Bathroom with shower attachment and toilet. Low ceilings throughout.

  3. The cottage was very comfortable, well equipped, beautifully presented and very homely. Our children loved having separate bedrooms. The garden and garden room were lovely, although the weather was not! For our 3 year old and 1 year old the lack of stairgates on the stairs was a bit of a headache. Also the steps down into the kitchen needed to be manned all the time to prevent the children falling down them. However I knew of both of these pitfalls before booking. Aug 2010.
  4. Cosy and comfortable, well-equiped, well situated in the region, friendly and helpful owners. The only real downside (only for tall persons) is the low ceilings upstairs & in the living room. July 2010.

Beautiful cottage, with high quality furnishings and lots of ’extras’ which made us feel very much ’at home.’ The owners had gone to a lot of trouble to create a really lovely holiday cottage, with lots of character, but at the same time, all the conveniences and equipment we were looking for in a modern home.   7. It is a comfortable, charming cottage, very well-maintained and equipped. It was a great place to stay with our children (4 and nearly 2); lots of children’s books provided suitable for a variety of ages, several cuddly toys, games, and a young child’s bike and a toddler’s "ride-on". The garden room was great both as a largish indoor space to play and somewhere for us to relax in the evenings when the children were asleep. (Note that it’s detached so we needed to use our baby monitor.) Loads of family friendly places in the approximate vicinity. May 2010.

  9. The cottage was clean and well equipped, in particular the kitchen. We missed internet connection, which I think in 2010 is a MUST. However, we enjoyed our holliday also in the absence of internet. Enough garden space for the kids, nice view over the valley. April 2010.
  10. We used the week’s break partly as "reading week" for teenagers preparing for A levels. The cottage’s beautiful, south-facing garden room was the ideal work place and our teenagers happily worked there through the mornings, before afternoon expeditions to the Sussex countryside and evening retreats to the local pubs. The owners were on hand and extremely helpful. A great week. Apr 2009.
  11. Fantastic accommodation and location - we hope to come back to again in the future. Cosy sitting area and spacious dining area. Very spacious and well equipped kitchen with a fantastic cooker. Bedrooms were a good size. Separate garden room and shower room were a fantastic bonus. Overall really good accommodation and we would be pleased to return for another visit. Aug 2009.
  12. The Old Post Office cottage is the best cottage we have stayed in Sussex. We’ve been back 3 years in a row. It’s clean, comfortable, and has lots of amenities. June 2008.
