Property Description

Less than 10 minutes’ drive from the nearest sandy cove on the beautiful south Cornish coast, these two holiday cottages (refs GPB and GPC), which may be booked together to accommodate up to 8 guests, are set in 4 acres of beautiful, peaceful gardens with pond, surrounding the owner’s Grade II listed manor house which has existed since 1066! This AONB offers excellent walking, with pretty beaches, sailing and river trips at Fowey (5 miles) and Mevagissey (11 miles). Sailing tuition is available at Fowey. Bird-watching and fishing at Luxulyan and on the Fowey river. Golf at Carlyon Bay (3 miles), horse riding and the old port of Charlestown and St Austell, all within 5 miles. Shop 1½ miles.

External steps to stable door entrance on first floor: Fitted kitchen with TV/dining room. Twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom, shower attachment, toilet. Stairs to ground floor: Living room with feature fire, beams and patio doors to courtyard. Double bedroom with 5ft brass bed and two large patio doors to courtyard. Shower room, double shower cubicle and toilet.

  7. The property was spotlessly clean and had a very modern "feel" to it. The grounds are huge and were perfect for our dog who loved having all the room to run around. We drove to Newquay a good few times as it was only 40 minutes away, great clean beach there and dogs are allowed too. (NB - dogs are allowed on Par beach which is only a few miles away from the cottage). June 2011.
  8. The Linney is located in an excellent situation, near to the beautiful Luxulyan Valley. The cottage perhaps exceeded our expectations with splendid and spacious gardens that our dog had access to. Thoroughly recommended. June 2011.
  9. We had a wonderful holiday and would thoroughly recommend The Linney. It was in a quiet location but with easy access to the Eden project, Heligan Gardens and National Trust properties as well as some lovely seaside towns. Excellent!! April 2011.
  10. The Linney is an upside down house with principal access on the first floor although the door from the lounge which is on the ground floor can be accessed from the parking area. We have used this type of accomodation before and therefore found it quite acceptable. Sept 2010.

  14. Location and garden were superb. The cottage had a nice comfortable feel about it but the low ceilings upstairs stop the property getting an excellent rating. May 2010.
  15. The Linney was one of the best, if not the best, cottages that we have stayed in over the last five years. It worked very well for my mother (almost 80) because the en-suite bath was not too high for her to step over to use the shower, and she loved the fact that she could see the stars via the skylight whilst she was in bed. The galleried living room was bright and airey and the views from the windows were fantastic. The kitchen was practical and well set out, and we were pleased that no space had been wasted with a dishwasher because we never use one, and it meant that there was ample food storage space which often there is not. We have rarely had such a large and airey double bedroom. The property is also ideally situated for garden visiting and visitors should definitely go to Pine Lodge Gardens which are very close by. We also recommend Glendurgan which is just beyond Truro as another one worth the effort. May 2010.
