Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Buy the O L 30 Map before you go. Be prepared to walk. Take the camera. A visit to Low Birk Hat and Blackton Nature Reserve a must. March 2012.
  2. The Old Chapel is a delightful and cosy property, and the owner is lovely, friendly and a source of plenty of local information, without imposing on you at all. Though we spent a lot of time travelling around, and thus less time enjoying the property itself, it was a fantastic base for our travels to the Dales, Moors, the east coast and the Lake District. The isolated location made for a very romantic stay. The complimentary pub lunch was a lovely touch! The only tip I would give is that the driveway gate is a bit of a tight squeeze, so if unsure, it’s probably better to park on the verge. Feb 2012.
  3. A excellent, quiet property which is very well-equipped. This was our second visit to the property and found it to be warm and cosy on some cold nights. Oct 2011.
  4. A compact but comfortable property in a peaceful location. Ideal for walking and visiting the beautiful Northern Pennines. The owners welcome pack and Sunday lunch at a local restaurant were a much appreciated gesture. Oct 2011.
  5. The Chapel is lovely and in a secluded area, very quiet and peaceful. The cleanliness of the cottage was excellent and everything was there that we needed. After a long journey from the South Coast a welcome pack was left in the kitchen and a tray laid for afternoon tea that was a lovely thought. Sunday lunchtime we were booked into a local pub for a two course meal which we very much appreciated. The owner was most helpful advising us of local walks and places of interest. The area is beautiful and we were fortunate in that we had a lovely week weather wise which was a bonus as we had taken our dog. Overall it was a very relaxing, peaceful and enjoyable week and we would certainly recommend The Old Chapel. Sept 2011.
  6. The Old Chapel is a wonderful place to stay. The owner was extremely helpful. Well equipped home from home. We will return. July 2011.
  7. A great little cottage, with excellent walks from the door. April 2011.
  8. Fantastic converted chapel - the most relaxing place we’ve ever stayed at. Helpful hosts, fantastic area - can’t praise this highly enough. April 2011.
  9. A warm and comfortable cottage, very peaceful and relaxing. Oct 2010.
  10. The owner (Janice) could not have been more helpful or friendly. The cottage was well placed for sightseeing with marvellous walks and wildlife on the doorstep. July 2010.
  11. Quiet yet with easy access to Barnard Castle and Cotteston with good pub (Fox & Hounds). April 2010.
  12. Quality kitchen appliances and good kitchenware. The setting was away from it all but within easy distance of amenities. Peaceful surroundings with only the odd car passing. Oct 2009.
  13. Excellent, clean and warm cosy cottage in a beautiful location. Very friendly but non-intrusive owners who were most helpful. In all we rate this cottage highly. Oct 2009.
  14. We like "quirky" properties! Oct 2009.
  15. Lovely, idyllic, quiet and peaceful, comfortable, contained, well situated and beautifully located. In one word... BRILLIANT. Aug 2009.
  16. Very nice and secluded accommodation, perfect to unwind. June 2009.
  17. A perfect honeymoon destination. March 2009.
  18. The accommodation was perfect, the owners very helpful and the welcome pack excellent. The free Sunday lunch was a lovely surprise, we,ll be going back 2009 and 2010! Oct 2008.
  19. The whole setting for our holiday made it a perfect honeymoon destination. We had a wonderful relaxing time following the stress and hectic events of the wedding. Feb 2008.
  20. A beautiful and peaceful retreat. The ideal place to relax and unwind in outstanding scenery. Sept 2007.
