This detached Tudor-style house overlooks the village tennis courts and lies on the main road next to the pretty village of Scalby. With its elevated position, it is a peaceful holiday haven with every need catered for - there is a separate games room (in detached garage) with pool table and darts. In the garden the children will find a Wendy house and a swing, plus space to play. Beautifully furnished throughout, The Mount makes a perfect place for that family celebration or special reunion.
A short stroll leads to the heart of the village of Scalby, with village shops, pubs, tea rooms/bistro and St Mary’s Church. Scalby Beck runs adjacent to the village and provides a beautiful backdrop for country walks, whilst the old Scarborough to Whitby railway line can be followed as it winds through the open countryside. The Mount has the advantage of village life whilst all necessary amenities are close at hand. Scarborough has been welcoming guests for more than 300 years and is a bustling seaside town with a vibrant promenade, twin bays and sandy beaches, together with the 1000-year-old castle and all facilities that could be wished for.
To the north of the town is a stunning coastline with the old smuggling village of Robin Hood’s Bay, leading up towards historic Whitby. Across the North York Moors, take a ride on the historic steam train; alternatively the natural beauty of the area can simply be enjoyed. To the south of the town, the Heritage coast leads down to Filey (with its many varied attractions) and beyond, and the Roman city of York is only 1 hour away. Shops 200 yards.

  5. The Mount is well equipped and well furnished. We had an excellent holiday, although parking for more than 3 cars requires some organisation as the drive is difficult to access and quite small. Garden is well cared for and spacious - good for games for all ages! Garden furniture needs a bit of care and it is a shame when paying this amount for a property to have to pay extra for the pool table. However, bathrooms and bedrooms were very comfortable and clean and the whole house is one of the best we have rented for a large family holiday as it is spacious and all rooms, including the bink room are good. Owners friendly and supportive and provide a welcome pack. Tennis courts a bonus as you can rent them from the rugby sports centre. Take care with road access outside if you have a toddler and make sure the gate is closed at all times, although this will further challenge the parking! May 2011.
