  1. A beautiful cottage in a peaceful location with everything you could need. Owners very helpful and friendly - good links to motorway for touring around. Will definitely stay there again. April 2012.
  2. Very pretty cottage and had a lovely homely feel. In fact so comfortable that we hated tearing ourselves away to go out in the day. Very well stocked kitchen and the aga was a delight to cook with. The central location within the village is ideal for eating out in the evenings and there is a lovely farm shop with an excellent coffee shop. The owners are so friendly and helpful and it was not a bit daunting having them next door. It is always a worry that owners are keeping an eye on you but here it felt just friendly and helpful and obviously keen to make our stay as good as possible. Only one regret was we only booked for a week. Two weeks in this fantastic property would have been great but then I probably would not have wanted to leave at all. Just can not praise this cottage enough. Best we have stayed in so far. Will be going back A.S.A.P. Sept 2011.
  3. Character cottage in a lovely peaceful location, just a few minutes walk from a friendly pub with good food, and a lovely farm shop. Aug 2011.
  4. A charming cottage in a quiet location yet within easy access of all amenities. Extremely well presented and one could not find any faults. Really good and would recommend without hesitation. July 2011.
  5. The cottage was exactly what we had hoped for and was very comfortable and homely. Great location for touring the lakes. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. Our little girl (6 years) loved her room. Would definitely stay at The Mains in the future. July 2011.
  6. This was not our first choice but for no reason of our own the cottage we chose was withdrawn so I had a choice and I picked The Main, in Stainton and our holiday from start to finish was fantastic. The location was brilliant, I had my elderly Mother with us and she managed the 100 yd walk to The local pub with no problem, the pub is great, loads of atmosphere and food - generous portions and delicious. Elizabeth who owns the cottage was so kind and helpful and such a lovely person. We hope to go back sometime, we were very lucky with the weather, it was very warm and never rained - apparently unusual for the Lake District. Thank you for good service. April 2011.
  7. Everything you could possibly require in a home from home was there. June 2010.

  13. The location was superb, quiet and tranquil. The accommodation was beautifully decorated and in keeping with the period of the building. The owner had left plenty of relevant information for attractions, walks and general areas of interest. You where made welcome from the moment you arrived, the owners were very approachable and sociable and dealt with any queries you may have (we had none). We had an extremely relaxing holiday and would be more than willing to book again at the cottage. Aug 2008.
