In a lovely valley surrounded by woods and farmland, The Maerdy comprises a 300-year-old farmhouse and four original buildings which have been converted into holiday cottages. Equipped to Visit Wales ‘4 Star’ standard, the grounds offer plenty of space and lovely walks from the doors. Close by are the Black Mountains, Llyne Brianne and Dinefwr Castle Estate, and the National Botanical Gardens of Wales are an easy drive. Fishing, climbing, swimming, golf and riding locally. Llandeilo 3 miles. Carmarthen 18 miles. Shops and pubs 3 miles.

Entrance porch to hall. This single-storey cottage is suitable for wheelchair users. Own access through electric gate. Beamed kitchen with slate floor. Beamed living/dining room with wood-burning stove and French doors to patio. Double bedroom. Further double bedroom with 5ft bed, extra single bed (for +1) and en-suite bathroom with flush-to-floor shower and toilet (access also from hall). Twin bedroom. Separate toilet.

  1. The accommodation was of a high standard, both in terms of comfort and equipment. It is located in a beautiful area, but has limited access to dog walking areas directly from the cottage. June 2011.
  2. A little of the beaten track, but if you want a relaxing holiday away from it all - its good. The accommodation its self took me back to when I was a child in my gran’s cottage. It has very comfy beds and is very clean lots of old furniture and fittings. If you want modern its not for you. I don’t remember anything being said in the details about the farm that is on site so you do get a lot of country smells wafting your way. Mrs Jones is a lovely lady and lives in a cottage near so no problem getting hold of her for any thing you may need. Overall holiday good. April 2011.
  3. The property was warm cosy and welcoming. The renovation was obviously not recent, but this was a major part of its charm, it was not all designer chic, no sleek impersonal granite worktops and stone tiled floors. Nov 2010.

  6. We took our mother with us, she is a wheelchair user and she can get a bit dis orientated while looking for the bathroom during the night. But this property with it’s interconnecting door from the bedroom to the bathrooom made this much easier. The owner of the property and his wife were really friendly and helpful ,this also helped us feel happier about taking mum on holiday. I would recommend any disabled person , with their families to give this property a go. Feb 2008.
