This pretty, small village is surrounded by the unspoilt and stunning countryside of the Eden Valley and Wainwright’s ’Coast to Coast’ walk runs through the village. There are excellent walks from the doorstep ranging from pretty riverside strolls to more energetic fell walking. The house has been tastefully renovated to a very good standard and provides a charming mix of traditional and contemporary style, making good use of the space and light to enhance both indoor and outdoor living. The traditional market town of Kirkby Stephen is a pleasant, short walk away, and has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. The Eden Valley is perfectly placed between the Dales and the Lakes and this lovely holiday home is ideal for families and friends exploring one of the most beautiful corners of England. Shops and pubs 3/4 mile.

This property is close to the 2014 Tour de France route, come and experience the spectacular scenery for yourself and follow in the trail of some true cycling legends.

We all had a fabulous time both inside the cottage and in it’s lovely garden and the weather was just perfect (Very unusual to have fab weather in late May.)We laughed the entire weekend and all thoroughly enjoyed our stay together.   9. For a start the access to the property was unique - over a very narrow , stone bridge. The property was a substantial, old stone building with loads of character, and the gardens were very attractive and well kept, attracted lots of wildlife. Sept 2010.

  17. Second year of visiting this beautiful cottage set in amazing countryside. A real treat for mid-february! Relax, unwind, take life a little slower and feel assured that after a day out walking or visiting the lakes you are returning to a warm, well-furnished, safe, cosy and fantastically well-equipped cottage, which has not only kept its old fashioned charm, but has all mod-cons and has been beautifully renovated.   18. The accommodation was excellent and very well equipped. The owner phoned a couple of weeks prior to our arrival and was very helpful with information on local restaurants and local walks.   19. The Larches is beautifully positioned in a friendly picturesque village and all the snow we had in February made for perfect winter wonderland holiday. The kitchen is an especially excellent venue for social evenings around the table with good food, good wine and good friends. Feb 2009.
  20. An ideal holiday base if you enjoy walking, which we do. The utility room was particularly useful for our boots, rucksacks and coats ! It was cold sometimes during our stay in early Spring, but the stove certainly made the living room cosy. March 2009.
