Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Location is excellent if a peaceful cottage surrounded by beautiful countryside is what you want. Accommodation is compact and functional rather than luxurious but more than adequate for an enjoyable break, especially if the weather allows for being outdoors - fantastic views down the valley from the patio area. Our stay was in December so cold, but a number of heaters were provided for our use - and we needed them! Dog friendly, but very steep stairs so not suitable for young children or anyone with limited mobility. Low beams a challenge for taller guests. Car parking is tight & requires some manoeuvring especially with medium/large cars. Owners are next door - friendly and unobtrusive. Dec 2011.
  2. Wonderful location and situation. Aug 2010.
  3. Quirky (accommodation upside down, lounge and kitchen upstairs) and peaceful location in the middle of rural lakes. Feb 2010.
  4. The property was superbly situated for the Southern Lakes. July 2009.
  5. Very peaceful, quaint stone cottage with excellent views across the countryside. July 2009.
  6. Good accommodation to use as a base in the Lake District. Aug 2009.
  7. What a fantastic place to spend the first week of our honeymoon!! The location and the scenery was amazing - there was plenty to do and see whilst we were there. The accommodation was just what we wanted - homely, full of period features and character which added something special to our holiday (we want to live there!). Our host was brilliant. She gave us a warm welcome which included a bottle of wine and fresh flowers on our arrival. She was also wonderful at leaving us to our own devices for the rest of the week. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay in the Lake District and hope to return sometime soon!. The property was full of character and had a real homely feel to it. We had everything that we needed. Aug 2009.
  8. A quite different experience to everyday urban living, cosy and homely with a somewhat quirky feel. Fine views and hidden in an unspoilt part of the lakes. One for lovers of nature and those who need to de-stress. June 2009.
  9. When we arrived we were made to feel very welcome, including our three dogs. All the information we could need was readily availiable and we immediatly felt comfortable and able to enjoy our stay. April 2009.
  10. Despite poor weather snow, rain, sleet and wind, we thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. Broughton is a most friendly and relaxing place to shop we loved the accommodation and setting. March 2009.

  13. We wanted a short break over the New Year to just chill out and relax on our own - undisturbed. This cottage more than exceeded our expectations, the accommodation was excellent, with only the owners property next door, the owner was extremely friendly and helpful on arrival, even greeting us with wine and flowers. The view we woke up to each morning was fantastic and so relaxing, a great way to recharge our batteries and start the new year. Dec 2007.

We loved staying at the cottage, it made us aware of what it would be like to live in the beautiful Lake District. The word to describe the cottage is "quaint", absolutely wonderful. The owner Janine made us warmly welcome, also a bottle of wine and lovely flowers were waiting for us. We will certainly go back, the local people made us feel welcome and in all honesty we did not want to leave! Roll on the Spring when we are going to try our best to return. Nov 2007.
