Property Description

This wonderful holiday property (adjoining another holiday property) is situated within 20 acres of the owner’s grounds, and occupies half a converted barn, sitting high on a hillside with fabulous views over the Vale of Usk. The Forest of Dean and Symonds Yat make fabulous days out. Monmouth, Chepstow and Ross on Wye all close by. Shops 7 miles, restaurant and pubs 1 mile.

Ground floor: 1 double bedroom (5ft) with en-suite shower room with toilet. Utility room. First floor: Living/dining room/kitchen with wooden floor. 2 bedrooms: 1 double (5ft) with additional single and en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and toilet, 1 twin with en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Oil central heating included, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot. High chair. Video. DVD. CD. Ceramic hob. Double oven. Microwave. Washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge/freezer in utility room. Dishwasher. Wi-fi. Enclosed courtyard with patio, sitting-out area and furniture. Barbecue. Parking (2 cars). No smoking. Pets free of charge. NB: Unfenced pond, 50 yards.

  1. The accommodation was excellent, however not too keen on the access road to the property. There were several fields surrounding the haybarn ideal for the dogs but we were told to keep the dogs on leads apart from that an enjoyable holiday. June 2012.
  2. We enjoyed our stay at The Haybarn. It was a pity about the weather which made us decide to leave a day early. The owners (next door) were very friendly and helpful. June 2012.
  3. Unfortunately weather was not too good, but nice and peaceful with fantastic views of the various mountains in the area. Nice size bedrooms and wi-fi very useful for sorting out trips etc on laptops. The Star (that you can see from the French windows) is a very nice pub with a good selection of beers and a very good restaurant. The Cripple Creek pub/ restaurant just outside Raglan is also worth a visit. April 2012.
  4. Despite the weather being shocking (April 2012), our holiday couldn’t have been better. The Haybarn was set in countryside with stunning views over fields of lambs and a backdrop of Welsh hills. The large windows gave amazing views all round. Very clean and nothing was too much trouble for the owner. Give it a go! April 2012.
  5. House was really well equipped (3 bathrooms for 3 rooms, brilliant) and warm, important in January! The only slight downer is that you wouldn’t want to walk back from either of the nearest pubs in the dark, but it is in the countryside, so I guess it’s to be expected to some extent. We loved it.   6. We were made very welcome by Brian on our arrival and during the holiday. The children were allowed freedom and even helped to collect eggs from the hens. The location was brilliant - nobody else near no noise. In the evening I sat by the French windows and watched the fantastic sunsets and because there is no light pollution it was amazing to stand outside and look at the stars. The location was fantastic and we were close to Monmouth and the Wye Valley - I would recommend Puzzlewood for children and Symmonds Yat both the Rock and the River Walk. Hay on Wye was wonderful if you like antique and book shops. The friendliness of the people we met the courtesy and people always made time for a chat. If you like Indian Food I would highly recommend the Jewel Balti 39 Drybridge Street Monmouth NP25 5AD. The food was fantastic and the staff amazing. We would have no hesitation in returning here.   7. Excellent facilities with ensuite for each room. View from first floor living room is outstanding over towards Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains. Sunsets out of this world. On site owners very helpful and accomodating. Kitchen area very well equipped to enable 6 to cook everything imaginable. July 2011.
  8. This is an excellent property, well furnished and equipped, very comfortable, spacious and in a wonderful location with unbelievable views across the countryside. Narrow lanes can be difficult at times but the setting is so good it is not a problem. Several small towns to visit with good shopping, excellent museums and other places of interest. Good places to eat nearby. June 2011.
  9. Property was lovely, owners were very helpful and friendly. If there is one reason to visit the Haybarn, it is the view from the 1st floor lounge. There are 14 miles of hills, valleys and farmers fields, only broken up by an occasional country pub or barn. The sunsets were marvellous. It can’t be adequately described, go and see for yourselves. I loved the sense of freedom in this property, it was easy to flow from room to room, the views are fantastic and there was a sense of being in a garden room, outside but inside in the lovely warm barn. We had snow the whole Christmas week and this added to the magic of our stay in the Haybarn. Dec 2009.
