Property Description

With outstanding views over the Tillingham Valley at the end of a private drive in a farm setting, this splendid detached, oak-beamed converted granary dates back to 1850 and has been completed to a very good standard, with galleried oak staircase, latch oak doors and part-beamed throughout. For guests’ further enjoyment there is an internal games room and a table tennis table situated in an open bay garage opposite the holiday property. There is also shared use of the owner’s outdoor heated swimming pool by arrangement (May to September). For walkers and cyclists there are tracks and paths to be explored on the doorstep. Visit Rye with its antiquarian bookshops, potteries, antiques and art galleries. The Heritage Centre boasts the Town Model Sound and Light Show and a unique exhibition of working old pier slot machines! Explore the golden sands at Camber; visit Hastings and watch the fishermen land the days catch; ride the Kent and East Sussex Vintage Steam Railway or choose from the many beautiful gardens to explore - Great Dixter, historic castles, Bodiam or local vineyards. Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Fantastic location, surrounded by sheep. Very comfortable house, with good facilities, including pool table (within the house) and table tennis table in nearby shed. Good location for dog-walking. Nearby Rye and Winchelsea are wonderful, interesting places to visit, as is Camber Sands. March 2012.
  2. We found the property spacious, and of a high standard. The surroundings were ideal and the children enjoyed being in the countryside. We would definitely go back in the future. Dec 2011.
  3. We had the most fantastic time, the small children loved the pool and the evening walks, looking for rabbits at breakfast time, and being able to wave to the tractor in the evening when we had our BBQ. There was so much space, and the children spent most of their time in the games room. Happy children make the adults happy and relaxed. July 2011.
  4. A fantastic haven of peace and tranquility close to the bustling town of Rye where you can find shops, cafes, culture and history galore! and the beauty of the South coast. May 2011.
  5. The setting is absolutely stunning with fabulous views. The cottage itself was extremely comfortable and very well equipped. April 2011.
  6. Spacious, airy and clean. Jan 2011.
  7. We had three families staying there and the property is spacious and extremely suitable for children. Also our dog had a good safe run about in the securely fenced large garden. The surrounding views were lovely, sunsets coloured all the sheep pink. We enjoyed the pool though that was mainly for the stoics amongst us. Our second year there, we may have a third. Aug 2001.
  8. Another thing to add - not only was the accommodation brilliant and the owner helpful, it allowed our pets to come along with no hassle. It was just great to have a pet friendly place with easy walking - and the house was easy for us to keep clean as a result. We need more of these places please! July 2010.
  9. Light, open and spacious property which served our family requirements perfectly. May 2010.
  10. Beautiful surroundings. Friendly neighbours. Off the beaten track but within easy commute to Rye. Modern well cared for accomodation for large groups. April 2010.
  11. Lovely building in gorgeous countryside surrounded by lambs. Just what we’d hoped for. April 2010.
  12. The Granary was in an amazing location and was beautifully clean and had everything we needed. April 2010.
  13. Overall very nice property, comfortable quite well equipped apart from a few things in kitchen. Would have liked some hooks to hang coats in hall and for clothes in bedroom. Feb 2010.
  14. A beautifully appointed property - even better than the description on the website. Stunning location. Just right for my requirements for a ’house party’ to celebrate a significant birthday - a group of 10 of different generations. Kitchen/diner was a little bit small compared to the rest of the house and the number to be catered for but did not detract from our enjoyment. No contact whatsoever with owner, which would have been helpful at the outset. Oct 2009.
  15. Tastefully decorated property with all essentials available. The accommodation is well situated with the town centre not too far away. The owners are also very pleasant and helpful. Oct 2009.
  16. An excellent choice for a large group. Sept 2009.
  17. We were not cramped, the accommodation is spacious and so we were able to spread ourselves and yet enjoy each others company. The decoration whilst perfectly adequate was not fussy, we didn’t have to worry too much about children breaking things. It was all that our party of three families with children ranging from 10 years down to 8 months could need, especially the downstairs bedroom and shower-room, which was much appreciated by our two elderly people. The dog loved the garden, bigger than her home one. July 2009.
  18. The Granary has an excellent feel, it is fitted out and decorated to a very high standard with exceptional views over countryside to the rear and in a small and very private enclave of other dwellings (owners included). The owners were responsive and very friendly without being too visible. It was a pleasure. May 2009.
  19. A beautiful house in a beautiful setting. There is nothing negative I can say about this accommodation and everyone in my party wants a return visit next year. May 2009.
