Property Description

This cottage, adjoining the owners’ home and sectioned off by two interconnecting doors, enjoys a peaceful, secluded situation amidst beautiful gardens and is set at the edge of Budleigh Salterton. It makes a delightful holiday hideaway for couples. The shared grounds extend to 1¼ acres, and the cottage is steeped in history, where Agatha Christie was a regular visitor. The Jurassic coastal path is only ½ mile away close to Lyme Bay, Branscombe and Sidmouth. Budleigh Salterton beach ½ mile. The cathedral city of Exeter is just 11 miles. Bird conservation area ¼ mile. Shops and pubs ½ mile.

Ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen. First floor: 1 double bedroom. Shower room. Separate toilet.

Open fire in living room (initial fuel included). Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV. DVD and small library. CD. Travel cot. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine in external utility room. Garden with sitting-out area, terrace and furniture. Barbecue. Parking (1 car). Dog to be kept on a lead at all times. No smoking.

  1. The Garden Cottage has all the equipment necessary for a comfortable holiday. The owners are friendly and helpful. The cottage is within 15 minutes of the town centre of Budleigh Salterton. The very steep stairs would not suit someone with mild mobility issues. July 2012.
  2. Very cosy cottage. Everything we expected. Quiet, pretty location. Log fire and walk to pub (up steep hill on way home!). Feb 2012.
  3. Cottage very small but cosy. The wonderful large trees in the large garden were a joy but they did prevent sun downstairs. Bedroom was quite luxurious, would be perfect in the winter but the high grade duvet was rather too warm for September. I am sure the owners would provide cooler bed covers. Although there was no bath/bathroom, the shower was extremely efficient. The owners were extremely obliging. Sept 2011.
  4. Lovely area. Longish walk into town but good bus service when you get there. Plenty to do and planty of eating places. Train from Exmouth to Teignmouth super and cheap. Aug 2011.
  5. A wonderful garden full of wildlife and fauna with huge trees giving the seclusion to compliment the actual living accommodations cosy atmosphere. Will definitely return. June 2011.
  6. Garden Cottage was in a lovely location, with a 10 minute walk into Budleigh Salterton. It was a good location to visit this part of Devon. Beer, Topsham and Exeter are all good places to visit. July 2011.

  8. Garden Cottage was a tastefully decorated property and very comfortable, with the option of sitting in the garden. It is in a quiet location on the edge of the town, 10 -15 minutes pleasant walk to the sea. We took advantage of the fact that Budleigh Salterton is a good base for walking, and the weather was good enough to swim in the sea a few times - only for the brave! Thanks for a lovely holiday.
