Property Description

Peacefully set in 2 acres of lawned gardens, these four beautifully furnished and extremely well-equipped holiday cottages enjoy excellent walks straight from the back door. Sunny Croft (ref JVZ) and Penny Croft (ref JSM) adjoin one another and boast superb views from their elevated position, whilst Meadow Croft (ref OMY) is attached to the owner’s 17th-century home and Abbots Croft (ref OL8). Each cottage has a plasma TV, a mini CD player and its own terrace with beautiful views.
This is an area with lots of character, with hills that beckon the walker. For cyclists, the Afan Argoed Forestry Park, rated in the top ten in the world for mountain bike rides, is within easy reach. Spectacular drives over the inter-valley roads give amazing views, while the rich, rolling land of the Vale of Glamorgan offers many castles, interesting churches and manor houses to explore. The nearest sandy beaches are 12 miles, and the Gower Peninsula, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty famous for its beaches, magnificent coastal scenery and rich birdlife, is easily accessible.
Caerphilly is easily accessible and is famous for its magnificent castle and the crumbly white cheese which is widely available throughout the town. The capital, Cardiff, is well worth the visit and is an easy and compact city to navigate, with the River Taff flowing through the heart of the city. The Millennium Stadium sits happily alongside much older buildings including the castle which gives the city a vibrant and cosmoplitan feel to it. Tennis, riding, fishing and golf nearby. Multi-screen cinema, restaurants and shopping complex 3 miles. Village shop/P.O. 2 miles, pub serving home-cooked food (prebooking advisable), 100 yards.

Large living room with electric ‘log-effect’ fire and stable door to patio with super views. Modern, well-fitted kitchen with dining area. Double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

  1. Fabulous property in a superb location, a real home from home. Pub opposite very friendly and serves lovely food. Good location to explore many places in South Wales. June 2012.
  2. We had a thoroughly enjoyable week at Sunny Croft - and it was sunny too! The cottage is very cosy but has every convenience you could want. The terraced garden has beautiful views over the surrounding hills. It is in a quiet and peaceful situation but has the bonus of a very nice pub close by which serves excellent food. May 2012.
  3. The cottage had all the modern fixtures and fittings and was in excellent condition. The views were spectacular and the cottage is set in a secluded location with a pub across the road. Oct 2011.
  4. The cottage is placed in a lovely environment, you would need a car though to get around as nearest shops aint in foot-distance at all. We though, loved the environment and felt welcome by the cottages owners. Tend to rotate our holiday-location on a daily basis, although we wouldnt hesitate in going to this place again. You have got everything around, nice walks, Outlet shopping in Bridgend, and the bigger cities of Cardiff and Swansea around. Overall pleasent stay. July 2011.
  5. Very good standard of cottage. June 2011.

  7. A well presented, picturesque cottage in beautiful surroundings with lovely views. The accommodation was roomy and comfortable with every facility needed for an enjoyable holiday. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. There was easy access to many of the visitor attractions in the area. All in all an excellent base for an enjoyable holiday. Aug 2010.

  15. Sunny Croft is a lovely comfortable cottage in the most beautiful part of the country. It is the third time we have stayed there and hope to return again. Oct 2009.
  16. Wonderful views with a good outside area, enjoy them! Well balanced furnishing and decor but cooking utensils/crockery in the kitchen was limited. Aug 2009.
  17. Excellent accommodation and the owners were so pleasant with a pub serving excellent food just across the road. April 2009.
  18. A lovely comfortable ’home from home’. Oct 2008.
  19. We have stayed at both the cottages at this farm now & both are fitted out to a very high standard. They are both warm, tasteful, spotless & very comfortable - with some lovely original features in a wonderful peaceful setting. The owner goes out of his way to make us welcome- even providing a welcoming tray with tea & Welsh cakes on arrival. The grounds are beautiful & well well tended. We go to Wales for the rugby when the team we support are playing there & we wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else- it is just perfect! We’d love to take our dog- who would be made most welcome- but we wouldn’t leave her alone while we went off to the match for the day. March 2008.
  20. The cottages are lovely with fantastic views over the Welsh valleys. The food at the local pub is well worth a try, especially as they offer a take away service to the holiday cottages. The owner of the cottage is very helpful and welcoming. Overall it is very good value for money. Aug 2008.
