Property Description

Peacefully set in 2 acres of lawned gardens, these four beautifully furnished and extremely well-equipped holiday cottages enjoy excellent walks straight from the back door. Sunny Croft (ref JVZ) and Penny Croft (ref JSM) adjoin one another and boast superb views from their elevated position, whilst Meadow Croft (ref OMY) is attached to the owner’s 17th-century home and Abbots Croft (ref OL8). Each cottage has a plasma TV, a mini CD player and its own terrace with beautiful views.
This is an area with lots of character, with hills that beckon the walker. For cyclists, the Afan Argoed Forestry Park, rated in the top ten in the world for mountain bike rides, is within easy reach. Spectacular drives over the inter-valley roads give amazing views, while the rich, rolling land of the Vale of Glamorgan offers many castles, interesting churches and manor houses to explore. The nearest sandy beaches are 12 miles, and the Gower Peninsula, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty famous for its beaches, magnificent coastal scenery and rich birdlife, is easily accessible.
Caerphilly is easily accessible and is famous for its magnificent castle and the crumbly white cheese which is widely available throughout the town. The capital, Cardiff, is well worth the visit and is an easy and compact city to navigate, with the River Taff flowing through the heart of the city. The Millennium Stadium sits happily alongside much older buildings including the castle which gives the city a vibrant and cosmoplitan feel to it. Tennis, riding, fishing and golf nearby. Multi-screen cinema, restaurants and shopping complex 3 miles. Village shop/P.O. 2 miles, pub serving home-cooked food (prebooking advisable), 100 yards.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Excellent rural cottage with stunning views. July 2012.
  2. Warm welcome to a delightful cottage. Spotless and comfortable. Wonderful views. Decent pub food at the Llangeinor Arms and convenient for walks from right outside the cottage, trips to Cardiff, the beach at Southerndown (lovely), the National Botanic Garden of Wales near to Carmarthen and shopping at Bridgend outlet. Good food at The Pelican in her piety at Ogmore by the sea. Couldn’t do anything about the weather but still had a really good relaxing break. June 2012.
  3. Meadow Croft was a lovely cottage in a remote but beautiful location with a pub and church across the road, neither of which caused any noise and the pub had great food and a really good atmosphere and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Upon arrival the gentlemen that own the cottage were there to go through things and were so welcoming and friendly and when we left our boys were given a gift by them. Great holiday and would happily go back to this cottage again. Aug 2011.
  4. We spent a marvellous week at Meadow Croft. The cottage was very cosy and well-equipped with all the mod cons. To top it all the view and the location in general was excellent, which makes it a perfect base to explore South Wales. Highly recommended. July 2011.
  5. A beautiful cottage with the most wonderful view from the main bedroom window. There are two comfortable armchairs in the bedroom and it was the perfect spot to read a book or have a coffee. Very comfortable lounge and nice bathrooms with efficient showers. Lots to do in the area. Very friendly owners. The gardens around the property are very nice with lots of sheltered spots to sit and enjoy the view. We have stayed in many holiday cottages and this is one of the best. If you love the countryside and peace and quiet this is the cottage to choose. Feb 2011.
  6. Location (great view), very quiet, short distance to very nice pub, nice owners, central position in south wales (valleys, cities, coast, brecon beacons in short distance). Feb 2011.
  7. The location is a major draw for us - we have been a number of times. The cottage is fine with readily available parking. Oct 2010.
  8. The cottage had idyllic views with a secluded eating area. The upstairs bedroom was where all of us wanted to sleep. May 2010.
  9. The cottage is home from home. The owners made us very welcome. This is our 2nd stay there, and it is just lovely. March 2010.
  10. Spacious, clean and very warm, beautiful views and plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view. Dec 2009.
  11. Standard of furnishing, quietness, country outlook. Friendliness of owners on arrival but left you alone afterwards even though living on property. Sept 2009.
  12. The accommodation was superb. We needed nothing extra which was a bonus as coming from Australia we brought only our clothes with us. Keith and Paul were perfect hosts/managers. Discreet in their presence and yet available and helpful if needed. April 2009.
  13. Outstanding location, cottages very well equipped, easy access to places and activities of interest to people of all ages. Aug 2009.
  14. The photo of the property did not do it justice, the owner gave us a wonderful welcome. The property was warm, comfortable and clean, I will definitely go back. Nov 2008.
  15. A beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. A perfect base for a visit to South Wales. Superb accommodation, very well-equipped kitchen, lovely log fireplace, fantastic views. Very welcoming and helpful landlord. Sept 2008.
  16. Dramatic location and very comfortable accommodation. Nov 2008.
  17. I would strongly recommend this cottage to anyone visiting the area! The pictures doesn’t do it justice, it was far better in reality and above our expectations! The surroundings are absolutely astonishing!! May 2008.
  18. The cottage was one of the nicest we have ever stayed in and it made for an incredibly relaxing weekend. Nov 2007.
  19. Meadow Croft was an absolute dream. We really did not want to leave. The views were breathtaking and the accommodation far exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be returning. July 2006.
