Property Description

Situated on a working farm

Set on a working farm, this simply and cosily furnished property enjoys a quiet and unspoilt location in the Caithness countryside. Just a mile or so off the A9, The Cottage makes a super base for touring this lovely part of the Highlands. Caithness is popularly described as one of Europe’s last wildernesses, where you could walk, climb or mountain bike all day without meeting anyone else. Visit castles, distilleries, and miles of unspoilt and dramatic coastline where you can surf and kite buggy, or for the less energetic, just take a stroll and watch the abundance of bird and sea life. Easy access to Wick and Thurso with their variety of amenities and also to the beautiful Orkney Islands – a ferry can be taken from Scrabster, Gill’s Bay or John O’Groats. Shops, pub and restaurant 5 miles.

Ground floor: Living room. Dining room/kitchen. 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin. Shower room with toilet. First floor: 2 single bedrooms.

Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV. DVD. CD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Shared courtyard. Sitting out area and furniture. Parking (2 cars). Two pets welcome (working farm).

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Excellent for our needs. Secluded but only 500 meters from main road. 20 minutes to Wick & Thurso. Sept 2012.
  2. Liz is a friendly and helpful owner who lives next to the cottage. Son Joe is a farmer and included our son with sheep shearing and riding the shetland pony Jessica to bed in the evenings. There are 2 walks that can be done from the accommodation but we tended to drive to coastal bays to explore. Aug 2012.
  3. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Quiet location. Comfortable and relaxing cottage to stay in. Sept 2011.
  4. A great base for exploring the area. Very quiet, rural location. The cottage is spacious, clean and it was home from home as everything you could need was to hand. The owners were fantastic and very welcoming. As well as ourselves, our 3 children and 2 dogs were made to feel very welcome and nothing was a bother. Fantastic location and a great place for a holiday!!! Aug 2011.
  5. Very comfortable and extremly quiet location. Dont realise how big the cottage is until you go inside. June 2011.
  6. The property was well placed for visiting various areas, it is well furnished and comfortable and well equipped. I would recommend this property to anyone. Aug 2010.
  7. It was clean and comfortable, the owners where helpful and very friendly and it was a really nice place to stay. Aug 2010.
  8. The accommodation was excellent, spacious, well equipped, bright and airy. You really didn’t need to bring anything at all because everything you could possibly want was provided by our wonderful hosts. The cottage is like a tardis. It may look small on the outside but inside is spacious and extremely well equipped. The owner and her family made us all feel very welcome and were on hand 24/7 in case we had any problems, not that we did. If you want a holiday that is well and truly away from all the hustle and bustle then I would thoroughly recommend staying here. There are enough walks in the immediate area if you seek solitude and be at one with nature and the elements but it is also a gateway to the wonderful delights that the extreme north of Scotland has to offer. Aug 2009.
