Property Description

Commanding stunning views across the English Channel, this attractive, spacious, family home for all seasons is the ideal property for a relaxing holiday with both friends or relatives. A decked terrace runs the length of the property, an ideal spot for soaking up the sun or relax after a brisk winter walk in front of a glowing log burner in the cosy living room, overlooking the frothing waves. Four of the six bedrooms have sea views and the other two have attractive garden views. There is also a games room. The white chalk cliff above St Margaret’s Bay is said to be the first place the sun reaches each morning on mainland Britain! The beach is famous for being the closest point to France and is the spot where Channel swimmers begin their marathon 21 mile swim. The village itself offers good pubs, restaurants and local shop within walking distance. The coastal path leads to the famous White Cliffs of Dover, gateway to England and now one of the UK’s protected Heritage coasts offering some of the best cliff coastal walking in the country. The lighthouse is the place where Marconi transmitted his first radio broadcast to France. Closer to France than London, bring a passport, catch a ferry from Dover and visit the French markets in Calais and Boulogne for the day. Visit Dover, Deal and Walmer Castle, Pines Garden and Metropole Galleries Folkestone. Canterbury 17 miles. Golf, sailing, cycling, horse riding locally. Shops and pubs 500 yards.

Three steps up to well-equipped kitchen with Rangemaster (for cooking), breakfast area, French doors to decked balcony and tiled floor. Utility. Double bedroom with ornamental fireplace. Separate toilet. Steep, narrow stairs to lower ground floor: Games room. First floor: Double bedroom with 6ft bed, TV, wash basin and sea views. Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Wonderful house, with wonderful views across the channel. If the weather is warm, it is great to eat outside on the largest of the three terraces. Sept 2012.
  2. This was a lovely house to stay and had great views of the sea - better than we had anticipated from looking at the photos, which was lovely even though the channel water was rather brown! The house is fully equipped with everything you could need and we cooked a number of big meals for all 12 people staying without any trouble. Good location if you have a car, although if you are relying on train stations, I think you would need to get a taxi. Some nice walks in the area and a local village shop and few pubs a short walk away was handy too! Overall very happy with this house and would hire it again. April 2012.
  3. A gorgeous house at a wonderful location. March 2012.
  4. The Cottage had a lovely feel to it as soon as you went inside. The view was fantastic and on the Sunday morning we were able to sit out on the decking and have breakfast, what a bonus. The bedrooms were lovely with fabulous views also. We all loved the large kitchen but a little more work surface would be good. It was the ideal place for us as a group of friends to have a great weekend. March 2012.
  5. A beautiful cottage. It was a lovely weekend to relax and get away from it all. The only downside is that you pick up the French mobile network, so calls and texts can be expensive! Oct 2011.
  6. A lovely house with breathtaking views from the sun terrace. May 2011.
  7. It’s an amazing house - fantastic views, grand and big rooms, wonderful bathrooms, well fitted kitchen and I wish I could live it it all the time. March 2011.
  8. A wonderful house, elegantly decorated and furnished, with fabulous views towards Calais. March 2011.
  9. Simply superb... exceptionally clean with a kitchen that was more equipped that at home. The owners have thought of everything. Even position two comfy armchair/loungers facing out to sea in the living room! Jan 2011.
  10. We loved the property, very comfortable, lovely furnishings, plenty of equipment. Unfortunately due to the time of year we couldn’t appreciate the decks and garden, but the view was exquisite. It’s not really a complaint but just a little more work surfaces in the kitchen would be good. However we probably noticed that because we cooked and ate in mostly. We would definitely go again. Jan 2011.
  11. The quality of the furnishings everywhere in the cottage were par excellence! We have been to so many cottages where the cushions/chairs/beds are old and tired, but here, it was like everything was brand new! All 9 adults said it was the best holiday cottage they had ever stayed in. Dec 2010.
  12. This property was outstanding. The fabrics of the interior furnishings, the magnificent views across the Channel, the location and walks in both directions along the cliffs from the end of the lawn were superb. There should have been more crockery available but I suspect many other guests wouldn’t cook as much as we did. We would rate this property very highly and would love to return. It couldn’t have been more ideal for us. Dec 2010.
  13. Beautifully presented, and great location for beach walks. Amazing weekend. Oct 2010.
