Property Description

Dating back to 1706, this completely renovated holiday cottage, the end of three adjoining cottages is situated in the Duddon valley, an unspoilt jewel within the Lake District National Park which boasts wildlife including red squirrels and buzzards. Varied walks from the cottage. The garden offers views up the valley. The owner’s land includes a section of the River Duddon, which hosts salmon and sea trout (two fishing permits provided, Environment Agency licence from PO). The Duddon Valley is a jewel in the crown of Cumbria, situated between Coniston and Eskdale, remote, unspoilt and perhaps the most idyllic corner of the Lake District. The Duddon Valley will delight walkers, mountain bikers, climbers, nature lovers and those who enjoy the peace and beauty of the countryside. The tiny villages of Ulpha and Seathwaite are two focal points of the valley. Seathwaite, situated near the end of the ancient Walna Scar road, boasts the 16th century Newfield Inn, where good home-cooked food, real ales and a warm welcome await, all day all year. Shop/PO 40 yards, pub within 3 miles.

  1. This cottage was lovely well equipped in a beautiful location peaceful with fantastic views. The owners had made sure you had a wonderful holiday start leaving a nice bottle of wine and a huge bar of chocolate what a way to kick off a holiday, it was cosy and comfortable and the best cottage we have stayed in ever. Jan Bush. Sept 2012.
  2. Lovely place. June 2012.
  3. A very comfortable cottage in a quiet area of the Lake District. The extra little bits and bobs such as condiments, kitchen towel, tin foil and sandwich bags etc are all appreciated and the milk, flowers and wine are a welcome touch. We will definitely be going back again. April 2012.
  4. Wow, this cottage has everything you will need for a fantastic holiday! If the weather isn’t kind, this property still has lots to offer from board games to dvd’s (inc a games room with table tennis, bar football & a small pool table) Local area walks are easy (although more sign post might help), with a lovely river, abundance of wildlife, great views & the fresh air, you cant help but unwind & relax. 7. This property is a home from home, you don’t need to take anything, (for example hairdryer, tin opener, iron), as it has all been thought of. The views and location of the cottage were outstanding, the beds were extremely comfortable and the kitchen had everything you need to spend time indoors if you choose to eat in. The added extra of a games room for the children (or adults if thats what they like) to play table football, pool and table tennis. Overall an amazing property in an amazing location. Aug 2011.
  8. The cottage is in a stunning location - the views are amazing (when you can see them!). It is remarkably quiet for the Lake District area. Wonderful if you like walking, but enjoyable even if, like us, you can’t walk far. Having the Post Office and shop almost next door is sooo convenient. June 2011.
