Property Description

In the heart of Perthshire, nestling quietly on a private, 1,200-acre estate in the mighty Tay Valley, these four very comfortable holiday cottages enjoy far-reaching views over a patchwork of farm and woodland. Laundry Cottage and Dunmore Bothy are both detached, single-storey cottages, whilst Stable Cottage, also single-storey, adjoins The Coach House, an impressive, 19th-century stone building retaining many of its original features. These smart colour co-ordinated properties have been furnished with rich luxury curtains and soft furnishing and each property has its own garden; visitors have access to a network of over 6 miles of private estate roads covering the extensive grounds, which include a fold of highland cattle, and two small lochs, home to wild ducks and geese. Boat trips can be arranged to fish for brown trout, as well as angling on the River Tay, with some of Scotland’s finest salmon fishing.
At the nearby Loch of Lowes, a visit to the bird hides is often rewarded by sightings of osprey soaring high overhead. Historic Dunkeld village (3 miles) is one of Perthshire’s gems, with a part-ruined cathedral, good shops and restaurants. Perth, 16 miles, offers large areas of green parkland, where sports matches, boating and putting can be enjoyed. The town boasts numerous museums and art galleries, including the museum of the Black Watch, housed in Balhousie Castle. Edinburgh and Aberdeen within 90 minutes’ drive.
Glasgow is also within driving distance and is a paradise for art lovers – the many museums include the Gallery of Modern Art, the Mackintosh Interpretation Centre and the Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery. More unusual attractions include the Transport Museum, the Botanic Gardens and The Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour. Shops 3 miles.

This property is close to the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles. Play a round of golf any time of the year on this world-renowned course or spectate at this epic sporting event which takes place between the 26th and 28th September 2014.

A two-storey, completely self-contained part of the Stables complex, renovated to a high standard. Attractive sitting-room with open fire in traditional cast iron fireplace. Spacious well fitted kitchen/dining room with countryside views. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. First floor: Double bedroom (5ft bed) with ornamental fireplace leading to twin bedroom. Further twin bedroom.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. This is a lovely cottage set in beautiful grounds which the owners are happy for you to walk around to enjoy the scenery and wildlife. There is plenty of space in the cottage and it has all the essentials you would need for cooking, entertaining etc but if you are looking for an enclosed garden only one of the four properties has one. The description in the brouchure is of a group of four cottages where as there is actually one large building split into three cottages and one seperate cottage with a garden. This is probably only an issue if you require an enclosed garden for dogs. Dec 2012.
  2. It was great being in the heart of the woodland when you stepped outside your door. Dec 2010.
  3. Well-equipped, clean and cosy. Oct 2009.
  4. The position of the cottage i.e surrounded by woods, over half a mile from the main road. The approach to the cottage is on private estate roads. The perfect setting. Estate workers very friendly and helpful. Sept 2009.
  5. Nearby Dunkeld is a beautiful town with a Cathedral and the river Dee winding its way through the area.Ideal walking territory. July 2009.
  6. Very clean, large rooms, plenty of storage space. The owners met us on arrival and showed us round. July 2009.
  7. Dunkeld is excellent as it served a good midway point to all areas of he central highlands. May 2008.
  8. Very well appointed, very comfortable, beautifully decorated and homely accommodation - couldn’t have asked for anything better. Wonderful territory for cycling. June 2007
  9. If you are looking to get away from it all this is an ideal place to do it Dec 2007
  10. Lovely setting & accommodation, would return anytime! June 2006.
  11. I have to say the owners of this property were so good. We got snowed in and they rang to make sure we were Ok. There was a fire ready laid, a bottle of wine, fresh flowers and chocolates...everything and more that you could wish for.. A1 owners. March 2006.
