Property Description

Standing alone, within the lovely garden of a 17th-century Grade II listed house in the village, and originally part of the nearby Shipton Court Estate (one of the largest Jacobean houses in the country dating from 1603), this charming, refurbished Coach House lies within a conservation area in an AONB. It offers cosy and spacious holiday accommodation, and its own peaceful garden. Set in the heart of the Cotswolds and on the edge of the village, it is both secluded and secure. Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water are all close by, and Cirencester, Cheltenham, Stratford and Oxford all less than an hour away. Good restaurants, theatre, walking, antiques, riding, racing (Cheltenham Gold Cup), historic houses, together with golf, gardens and fishing are all easily accessible. Shop 1 mile, nearest of three village pubs, 100 yards.

Good sized, elegantly furnished, comfortable living/dining room with antiques, wood-burning stove and two sets of French doors to delightful courtyard garden. Kitchen. Cloakroom and toilet. Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Our hosts, Anne and Peter, made us feel very much at home and were very helpful and generous, there when we needed something, yet always respecting our privacy. They gave us a lot of tips on where to eat, where to shop for good food, and what to visit. June 2012.
  2. A lovely homely cottage tucked away in the owners garden. Friendly owners who provided everything you need for your holiday. A quiet location with 2 great local pubs. Good train links to Oxford from Kingsham (5 minutes away). All other Cotswold villages within easy reach. Oxford way easy to access and good walks from cottage. Pretty courtyard to sit in sun (we didnt have that joy)and views over owners garden and woodland. Would love to go again. April 2012.
  3. Quiet situation but very convenient for touring the Cotswolds. Well-equipped and comfortable. No real complaints. Parking is tight but cars could be left on the quiet village road. Over-bath shower is only really useable by people less than 5 feet tall. March 2012.
  4. We have been to quite a number of English (and Scottish) cottages over the years, but this has been the best. The owners were very welcoming, always ready for a chat but never intrusive. The accommodation was extremely well furnished and equipped without being fussy. It is also very well sited, not just for Oxfordshire but also for parts of Gloucestershire, Warwickshire and Wiltshire. We can recommend it wholeheartedly. Sept 2011.
  5. A very comfortable cottage where we were made very welcome. The secluded little garden was a real bonus. Aug 2011.
  6. The cottage was lovely and well equipped, (although some of the utensils etc. were a little old and/or chipped). It was very secluded and private making it very restful. The village itself was VERY quiet, there were two very good pubs serving great food but little else in the village, not a problem from our point of view. Easy travelling to the busier villages and Oxford. June 2011.
  7. A very well equipped and tastefully furnished cottage, with a welcoming owner next door. It was ideal for a quiet break in a pretty village location. March 2011.
  8. The best appointed holiday cottage I know, in a beautiful settling. The warm welcome of the hosts made us feel at home right away. Oct 2010.
  9. Very comfortable & well presented. Furnished to a very high standard. Like staying in a family home. June 2010.
  10. Staying at The Coach House was like living in our own home. There are tasteful pictures on the walls, the furniture is comfortable and homely and not the usual "holiday home" tack. The house is warm and the beds are quality and very comfortable. The garden is a delight to laze in and there were plenty of little extras that just made the stay that little bit nicer such as a bottle of wine in the fridge. April 2010.
  11. Just what we expected! April 2010.
  12. Comfort, cleanliness and friendliness of the owners. March 2010.
  13. Lovely location. Feb 2010.
  14. Perfect home-from-home for a busy family. Would recommend The Coach House to anyone! Dec 2009.
  15. The property was everything we could have hoped for our holiday stay. Aug 2009.
  16. Good location. Cosy and attractive converted coach house. Friendly owners. Aug 2009.
  17. A delightful cottage in a quiet location, well situated for exploring the Cotswolds. Sept 2008.
