Property Description

This detached cottage has been converted to provide good quality holiday accommodation, yet with some of its original character retained, with exposed roof timbers and modern additions. It is 5 minutes’ walk from the centre of the attractive and popular Peak District town of Matlock and makes an exceptionally good base for exploring the whole of the Peak National Park. 3 miles to Gullivers Kingdom and Abrahams Heights accessed via the cable car over the stunning views of the gorge and Derwnt River. Crich, the Tramway Museum and Dovedale are all nearby for an enjoyable day out. Historic places such as Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Carsington Water are well worth a visit. Shop and pub 400 yards.

  1. The property is split over 3 levels but only a few steps to each level. Easy to access. A homely feel to the cottage. Ideally situated to visit the surrounding countryside. Would recommend visiting Chatsworth House and Crich tram museum. June 2012.

  3. The cottage was absolutely perfect for a break. Well equipped and close to Matlock town centre. Only possible improvement would be to completely overhaul the house book and include full details of how things work and what items can be recycled. In addition, the description of how to find the cottage on the website could be much improved and not assume arrival by car. Despite having a Google map, we walked way past the cottage (which is set back from the road) and up a steep hill carrying our luggage before having to turn round and come back down again. Oct 2011.
  4. Good base for the Peak district. The coach house due to the age and build could feel cold, but portable heaters provided, as the main heating is nightstore. Bathrooms would benefit from up-dating. Sept 2011.
  5. Excellent position being within walking distance of Matlock town centre and a superb bike shop! Ground floor bedroom did not retain the heat too well and was quite cold at times. The rest of the rooms were fine. Good off street parking for one car but entrance is narrow. Overall - very good. March 2011.

The Coach House is well situated in Matlock and there is plenty to do and see in the surrounding area. Our host was very welcoming and helpful.   20. The owners of the Coach House are a lovely couple, so friendly and helpful. We don’t have a car and they met us at the station and took us back when we left and also took us there and back to a local attraction. It really is a lovely self contained house.
