Property Description

This gabled cottage wing (left in photo) of a country house, is bright and well-appointed, it retains beams, original woodwork and stairs, leaded windows and feature fireplace and has a cycle store. On the edge of Ashbourne - ’Gateway to Dovedale’, set on a small private estate accessed by a private drive, it enjoys superb views . The footpath to Dovedale and the Tissington cycle hire trail runs nearby, and pool and leisure centre are a short stroll. Peak Park, Alton Towers and Buxton are an easy drive. Shop ¼ mile, pub ½ mile.

Ground floor: Living room with beams. Dining room/kitchen. First floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Open fire in living room included. Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Cot. High chair. DVD. Video. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Tumble dryer. Fridge/freezer. Front lawned garden with patio and chairs. Large shared lawned and orchard areas. Parking (2 cars). Pets free of charge. No smoking.

  1. Beautiful traditional cottage, very comfortable, lovely location and very friendly hosts. A little modernisation a new TV and WiFi access would put this lovely cottage on top of the pile. This is not a critisism by any means we would love to stay again. Oct 2012.
  2. A very cosy and comfortable cottage within a short walk of Ashbourne town centre (albeit quite a steep uphill return!) Large shared gardens which were superb with lovely views. We took our dog who had a fabulous time in the enormous garden. Only slight minus point was the tiny TV in the large living room and the poor reception if it was windy due to the many large trees around but other than that top marks! Sept 2012.
  3. Owners very welcoming with fresh flowers on arrival. Lots of character but comfortable beds and sofas etc all very clean. Very low doorways, shower/bathroom and twin bedroom caused a few bumped heads for taller members of group. Dog was welcomed but having the owners property adjacent was an issue as being young and not well behaved he wandered into their house if not watched or kept tied up. Wi-fi would have been nice as TV rather ancient and with only few channels via digital box - would probably not bothered if weather had been better!! Despite the rain we really enjoyed the break. July 2012.
  4. Lovely cottage within beautiful grounds. Perfect for anyone taking their dog. Scenic circular walk from property,perfect for early morning exercise. Short walk into Ashbourne which is a lovely town with all the facilities you require. May 2012.
  5. Lovely peaceful cottage. Large well tended garden with amazing views. If the weather had been better would have sat on the strategically placed bench gazing at the view and listening to the huge variety of bird song. The owners were very welcoming and gave Harry our labrador free reign of the garden as long as he was accompanied by one of us. Bring DVD’s or plenty of good books as the tv reception is a bit iffy. March 2012.
  6. A lovely cottage situated on the outskirts of Ashbourne yet in wonderful countryside. Just 10 minutes from Dovedale (one of our favourite areas). The owners are very friendly and helpful but unobtrusive. We’ve been twice now and will definately be going again. Nov 2011.
  7. A very pleasant well equipped cottage,convenient for the town, dog walking etc. Plenty of eateries within easy walking distance and shops if required. Oct 2011.
  8. The Coach House is very comfortable cosy and spacious and the owners are so friendly and knowledgeable. If you have a dog it will be in heaven as a minute down the private drive you have a walk through woods across fields down to the river (what more could a dog want)! In finishing I would recommend this property to anyone. Oct 2011.

  11. Comfortably furnished, good sized for 4 people (or 3 and dog), l well equipped, with very helpful and friendly hosts. But the best bit is the wonderful garden and views over the Peak District-we were free to wander the garden and use the open lawn which looked out over fields and beyond to Dovedale. Perfect for children to play safely, and for sitting out on the bench and enjoying the views. April 2011.

  18. Secluded location but access to large gardens with superb views over the dales. Easy access to town and country walks. Property is part of a joined set of houses, all of which contain the extended family. All family members very helpful and considerate. Aug 2010.
  19. Great location. Quiet, backing onto open fields but still only a short walk into the town. Easy car parking. Clean rooms with nice modern functional facilities - heating, fridge, etc. Would stay here again. July 2010.
