This charming 17th-century thatched holiday cottage, end of a row of three, is situated in the conservation area of the picturesque village of East Knoyle, which has an excellent pub, and a village shop and post office. For walkers there is an unrivalled network of footpaths and bridleways through woodlands and pasture, much enjoyed by ramblers and dog walkers (nearest footpath just 100 yards away). It is 5 miles to Shaftesbury and a 1-hour drive to Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch. Salisbury is 20 miles. Salisbury Plain and the Savernake Forest are perfect for walking and cycling. Easily reached are Bath, Stonehenge, Stourhead, Longleat and Wilton House. Shop 20 yards, pub ½ mile.

  2. Had a great holiday despite the awful weather. Cottage was cosy. Village shop excellent. Lovely meals at the Fox and Hounds. It was a shame that, as it was November, so many attractions were closed but Salisbury very good for shopping, village church interesting and had a lovely day at Monkey World. It was very restful and peaceful. Nov 2012.

  4. This property is in a very good location for walking and for visiting nearby Shaftesbury. There is an excellent village shop opposite and a lovely pub (The Fox and Hounds) within 2 minutes drive or 20 minutes walk. The cottage felt slightly cold when we arrived on Friday evening (I think it had been empty the previous week) but it soon warmed up with the log burner and background warmth from the electric wall heaters. The owner of the cottage was very helpful, advising about local amenities and leaving some milk for in the fridge. March 2012.

  6. Nicely situated cottage, clean, tidy and good size for a family of four. Extremely comfortable. Great village with good location to get to attractions and a superb play area for kids near the village green. Village shop is opposite the cottage and is very convenient. Didn’t want for anything inside the cottage, except maybe a proper stand up shower as opposed to just the bath. Staircase is steep and twisted, but this is accurately described on the website so it was expected. Small kids need supervision. There isn’t really that much room for parking unless you have a very small car, but at least you were able to get the car off the road overnight. Had a great holiday and felt this cottage was value for money. Aug 2011.
  7. The cottage was beautifully furnished and the owners had provided many thoughtful touches. The only small niggle is the lack of a proper shower. The village shop is a gem and the staff are very friendly and helpful. July 2011.
  8. Location is excellent, there is a post office across the road which also houses a very good general store, and the people who work there are very helpful in all respects. There,is a fine pub for food and views, The Fox and Hounds a short distance away. The owners have provided Wi -Fi which is extremely helpful. There is a washing machine but no dryer. June 2011.
