There are several old flint cottages that still exist in the village and Palling Mill still stands in good repair though without cap or sails. Nearby is the town of Stalham where visitors will find a museum of the broads, down by Stalham Staithe, and can experience how broads people used to live. There are exhibits including a vintage holiday cruiser, a traditional steam launch and gun punt complete with guns. Slightly round the coast is Waxham Great Barn, a historic 16th-century building, which has undergone extensive restoration work, with seasonal tea rooms. Located within easy driving distance are the Norfolk Broads, a haven for wild life, where the expanse of waterway is best explored by boat - daily motor launch hire and river trips are available with plenty of riverside restaurants and picnic opportunities. The traditional seaside town of Great Yarmouth, 10 miles, for fun fair and amusements, and slightly further afield are the seaside resorts of Cromer and Sheringham, famous for shell fish and the Poppyline Steam Railway. A trip along the coastal route leads towards the RSPB and Salt Marsh Nature Reserves for excellent walks and bird watching opportunities.
