Property Description

Situated in a glorious secluded valley of 35 acres, bordered by woodland rising up to Radnor Forest, this modern spacious detached property offers comfortable holiday accommodation for up to 10 people. Designed and built with oak frames and glass, the building takes advantage of the spectacular views and has a generous kitchen/dining area with the living room on the first floor. A hot tub outdoors completes this lovely property.
Within five minutes’ walk of the house lies the village of New Radnor, which provides a pub, village stores and post office. The local area offers hill walking, pony trekking, cycling, canoeing and paragliding. A little further afield lies the pretty town of Hay-on-Wye, famously known for one thing - bookshops - of which there are over twenty in the small town. With its spectacular backdrop of Hay Bluff and the Black Mountains, together with its creaky little streets, riverside parties and travelling fairs (the best of which is the Hay Literary Festival when London’s literary world decamps on Hay), this makes an alternative and enjoyable day out. Easily accessible is Ludlow, perched on a hill, and which is one of England’s most picturesque towns. It comprises a cluster of beautifully preserved black-and-white, half-timbered buildings packed around a craggy stone castle, with rural Shropshire forming a dreamy backdrop. Other places of interest to visit include Presteigne and the spa town of Llanrindod Wells, which are both within a twenty-minute drive. Shops ⅓ mile.

Step to entrance. Large beamed well-equipped modern fitted kitchen/dining room with range, glazed wall, ceramic tiled/wooden floor. Utility. Double bedroom with patio doors. Two twin bedrooms. Wet room and toilet. Open-tread spiral stairs to first floor: Spacious beamed living room with wood-burning stove, rugs on wooden floor and stunning countryside views. Two bedrooms, each with sloping ceiling; one double with 5ft bed and glazed gable end, and one twin bedroom. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Wonderful location for 10 females looking for s relaxing time away for the hussle & bussle of our busy lives. The hot tub was so good no matter what the weather. We didnt need to go anywhere during the week other than walking & sunbathing. The house was a fabulous space for us all of us to chill in we had some lovely meals round the huge table. Would have ben nice to have more seating options & sun beds outside there were only two sunbeds between 10 adults. Other than that it was well equipped & we would certainly go back without any hesitation. June 2012.
  2. We found the barn absolutely superb. It was a fantastic looking home in a very picturesque surrounding. Well located for good walks and the Radnor Arms pub serves good food and caters for children. Lovely holiday had by all. Feb 2012.
  3. We had a great weekend, the location is beautiful, and the hot tub is one of the best we have been in. The barn is very well equipped, lots of pans, crockery, utensils, even salt and pepper and olive oil provided. There is a lot of fridge space, not always so everywhere. There was a good supply of wood if you needed it as well. Could not fault it and booked again for next year. Nov 2011.
  4. This was our second year at The Barn, with the whole family. We had the most enjoyable time. From the location to the quality of the property (and jacuzzi of course!), this really is the best loal holiday we’ve ever taken. We’ll be booking every year from now on. Oct 2011.
  5. Excellent location, generally very good but bedding could be newer. Downstairs shower room not practical for use as wet room. Cake was excellent and we liked the property, position & thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. Aug 2011.
  6. Wonderful time was had by all. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub and the badger who visited us just outside the kitchen door in the evenings and was far from timid ! The location and scenery were second to none, which came with perfect peace and quiet - except for the sheep of course ! And the array of wildlife was a joy to behold, especially early mornings and evenings. Aug 2011.
  7. Excellent girlie weekend away. Fabulous cottage... thoroughly enjoyed by all. June 2011.
  8. A stunning barn in a stunning location. Thank you very much, we had a lovely break. Feb 2011.
  9. Gorgeous property inside and out. Well beyond my expectations and the best I’ve ever stayed in. Great value for money and the owner even helped us bring up our cases because our cars were stuck in the snow! Nov 2010.
  10. This is a property that we will return to. It was fabulous! Oct 2010.
  11. The quality of the property, the decor and setting were excellent. Sept 2010.
  12. The cottage was beautiful, furnished well, great amount of cooking utensils, great location, fantastic host. Sept 2010.
  13. Beautiful accommodation for the price would go back again and again. March 2010.
  14. The property was to a high standard, large with everything thing you need. Placed in fantastic surrounding its a perfect get away. Feb 2010.
  15. This property was ideal for a family as the children could play outside without disturbing any body. I would suggest installing a small shed to house bikes due to the ease of getting to the Elan valley with its wonderful bike rides for all abilities including our 70 year old grand mother. Oct 2009.
  16. This property was in a fantastic secluded location with outstanding views all around, backed by the trees of the Radnor Forest. Aug 2009.
  17. Spacious, light and airy. Wonderful views from the lounge window. well equipped. Very Clean. Privacy. July 2009.
  18. The lovely home baked victoria sponge, flowers and a bottle of wine on arrival gets the holiday off to a fine start!! May 2008.
  19. Hen weekend in a central location for everybody to get to, We all loved the weekend at The Barn. Felt so relaxed all weekend, didn’t want to leave. The surroundings made you feel very at home. Hot tub under the stars was lovely. The welcome cake and wine was a nice touch. Tasted fab. Didn’t see anyone all weekend other than sheep. Nice and peaceful. Think we might look to book again. March 2009.
  20. It was fantastic! Really sumptuous and luxurious - like a posh hotel, but with the benefits of splendid isolation. Superbly comfortable beds and linen; hot tub just amazing amid such beautiful surroundings on crisp sunny winter days. walks from the door into the hills. Also PLENTY of room for 10, more spacious than i had expected from photos, including dining table which I had thought looked small in photos but was not in reality, and lounge lovely and spacious too. PERFECT, couldnt have asked for more! Feb 2009.
