This attractive detached barn has been lovingly converted retaining many original features with the living room on the first floor to take advantage of the views. Situated in the grounds of the owner’s home next to the Chesterfield canal, The Barn provides the perfect holiday base to tour all of middle England, with the historic cities of Lincoln and York being within easy access, and is just 6 miles from Gainsborough with its fine Old Hall, 7 miles from Bawtry, and 9 miles from Retford. This is Pilgrim Father country and is on the Mayflower Trail. Fishing in the canal by permit. Shops 4 miles, pub 1 mile.

Ground floor: 2 twin bedrooms, one with additional small single (for alternative sleeping). Separate toilet. First floor: Living/dining room with beams and wooden floor. Dining/kitchen with beams. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Woodburner in living room (initial fuel included). Oil central heating, gas, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Digital TV. DVD. Gas hob. Electric oven. Microwave. Freezer. Baby grand piano. Lawned garden with sitting-out area and furniture. Barbecue. Ample parking. Cycle store. Welcome pack. NB: Small pond in the garden.

  1. Excellent place to chill out! Lovely walks along the canal with loads of wild flowers. Very friendly people in the area. June 2012.
  2. Fantastic location situated overlooking the Chesterfield canal which is used by the occasional narrow boat. A very quiet location with loads of paths for walking: (our dog loved it). The kitchen was fully equipped and modern. All rooms modern but tasteful. The only negative, and it is a minor point but a washing machine would have been useful. Overall though we would definitely go back, we had a wonderful time. June 2012.
  3. There’s obviously been a lot of hard work gone in to this barn conversion and overall the effect is fabulous. The owners couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. The Welcome pack of food and goodies was better than anthying we’ve had before. May 2012.
  4. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly, and the welcome pack they left was fantastic. We felt so cosy and at home there. Although there is no double bed and the website states that the bedrooms are small, they are perfectly adequate and the rest of the property is very spacious. We had a wonderfully relaxing few days and we will definitely be going back. Oct 2011.

  7. The Barn was an unusual property, tastefully converted. The upstairs living accommodation had beautiful views from most of the windows and was very comfortable. Our hosts had left us a very generous welcome pack including bread, butter, eggs, milk, tea, coffee and a chilled bottle of wine. They were friendly and approachable. July 2010.

  13. The barn was lovely and the photographs do not do it justice. The owners were welcoming and friendly and provided a pack of basic provisions (tea, coffee, bread, milk, eggs, fruit, wine). The barn was was well equipped with basic items including loo roll, cling film, herbs and spices. Interior doors closed making it a safe place for our 16 month old baby. We would definitely return and recommend to others. June 2009.
  14. This is an excellent property, even better than the picture and description shows. The barn was furnished to a high standard and was extremely clean. Lots of little extras when we arrived, fresh fruit, wine fresh eggs etc. Outstanding! We will definitely be returning! Aug 2008.
