Property Description

Swallows Loft is a converted, detached red brick outbuilding set around a courtyard close to the owner’s home and adjoining a working dairy farm. Perched above ground level, it offers stunning views across the Mendips from its large, decked terrace. It provides an ideal holiday retreat amongst the beautiful Somerset countryside, and a warm welcome is assured with a complimentary homemade cream tea on arrival. Located near thel village of Loxton, this is a peaceful, secluded hideaway accessed by a 1 mile private unmade road, and is perfect for exploring the south west, and there are many walking, horse riding and cycling opportunities. Stabling is available by prior arrangement with the owner. The seaside towns of Weston-super-Mare, Brean and Burnham-on-Sea are 15 minutes by car. Shop and pub 2 miles.

Ten steps to entrance. Open-plan living/dining room/kitchen with wood-burning stove, wooden floor and French doors to terrace. Double bedroom. Bathroom with shower attachment and toilet.

  2. We loved our break here and for some reason I thought we were staying on a diary farm but was pleasantly surprised when I found out they had 14 horses with paddocks all around the property. (I must have read the description wrong!) The owners were very friendly and so were the 3 dogs! The decor was very modern and comfortable. May 2012.
  3. Comfortable and cosy accommodation in a lovely spot, with very friendly and welcoming people (and dogs). Easy to get to beaches at Weston, Brean and Burnham and not far from Wells, Cheddar etc. Lovely cream tea too! May 2012.

  8. Swallows loft was absolutely beautiful. The decor was creative and tastefully done down to the finest detail and the location was picturesque. We were also made to feel very welcome. July 2011.
  9. Ours was a four-night stay, and with only three full days in Somerset this was an ideal location to spend a day on the coast, another in The Levels and the third on the Mendip hills. The accommodation was more spacious and even better presented than the photographs suggested; the verandah provided a large extension to the living space with a great view. Prior to arrival, we did have some concerns about the proximity of the motorway, but it was barely audible even outdoors and not at all indoors with the windows closed; it also seemed relatively little used at night. The owners are lovely people with a passion for animals. Our dog was welcomed just as warmly as we were, and we could wander in their fields at will, often accompanied by the youngest of their three dogs. If our experience is the norm, another Gold Award for this year seems on the cards. June 2011.
