Property Description

Situated on the borders of two historic counties, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire, this detached, spacious and beautifully appointed barn conversion has sweeping views over the Cherwell Valley and to distant Banbury. The lovely garden makes a perfect setting in which to relax at the end of the day, and from here there is ease of access to the popular Jurassic Way footpath, providing excellent walking.
Swallow Barn is in an ideal holiday location to explore and enjoy the many places of interest and great scenic beauty in this area of England. The quaint and often unchanged market towns and villages of the Cotswold Hills are full of charm; there are many fine houses and gardens to visit, a superb Wildlife Park at Burford, several farm parks and Blenheim Palace at Woodstock. The elegant university city of Oxford has world famous museums and art galleries, and punts can be hired for an afternoon on the River Cherwell. A visit to Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon should not be missed. A guided sightseeing tour is available taking in all the memorable and historic houses and churches including the two great theatres where the Bard’s plays are performed.
The lesser-known picturesque villages of Northamptonshire include Ashby St Ledger - the home of Guy Fawkes (not open to the public), and Althorp, the resting place of Diana, Princess of Wales. The Silverstone Racing Circuit and Gaydon Motor Museum add further interest. Shop 2 miles.

  1. This property exceeded our expectations. It was very big (even for 7 of us) so plenty of room for all to have quiet space. The games room was excellent and the pool great for bad weather days. The owners were lovely. March 2012.
  2. The property was of a great standard and we were very comfortable during our stay. There was lots of room for our large party and the kids loved the pool. Jan 2012.
  3. An ideal place for a family get together. The owners were very helpful, even going out to buy a hair dryer when we asked if there was one. The children loved the pool, and the house was big enough for us all to have our own space, as well as being with each other. Son and son in law had great fun in the games room. Oct 2011.
  4. An ideal central location for a family get-together, easy to find and with access to Cotswolds, Northants villages, canal etc. Owners charming and friendly, and offering advice, assistance and great flexibility - you really feel the house is yours for the holiday. Lots of useful space, comfortable without being too precious. Good for a range of ages - from 2 to 90 in our party! June 2011.
  5. Lovely spacious house with loads of character. Really suitable for a large family, with accommodation set out well. Plenty of bathrooms, the wet room being great after swimming. Lovely countryside and views, but on the doorstep of the motorways for sightseeing. April 2011.
  6. It was delightful to spend our Ruby wedding with all of our family at this property. The accommodation was excellent with plenty of space for all. The pool was a big hit with all especially our grandchildren. The games room was a great haven for the adults! The well tended gardens were also a great place to relax and a safe environment for the children to play. We would certainly like to visit again and would have no hesitation in recommending it to our friends. May 2011.
