Property Description

Peacefully situated within the extensive grounds of the Pitchford Estate, these three properties offer superb holiday accommodation. Windy Mundy Farm (RNG) has been converted from an 18th-century threshing barn and deer shelter and is located on an old deer park at the centre of the estate. Built on top of a south-facing hill overlooking Row Brook, and part of a working arable farm, it is surrounded by fields of wheat and barley and has spectacular, far-reaching views towards the Shropshire hills. Enclosed by a long stone wall, the farm has its own courtyard garden with a terrace and barbecue. Stockbatch Granary (RJ6) is reached by a mile-long drive passing through the mixed arable land of Stockbatch Farm, with its fields of corn encircled by woodland. It comprises an 18th-century granary, clapperboard barn, stables and cowsheds, and nestles on a south-facing slope, at the bottom of which a stream wends its way gently along. A courtyard garden enclosed by a red sandstone wall provides a pleasant sitting-out area from which to survey the countryside views. Tree House Barn (RDDJ) is a sensitively restored detached barn conversion which enjoys views of the world famous Pitchford Tree House (the oldest tree house in the world).
Within 6 miles of each property is historic Shrewsbury with its fascinating architecture, castle, museums, fine shops and wealth of traditional inns and restaurants. Easily accessible is popular Church Stretton, and Shropshire’s finest town Ludlow, framed by the gentle Clee Hills, with its impressive castle, magnificent church, many half-timbered buildings and Georgian red-brick houses. Bridgnorth has what is reputed to be the steepest cliff railway in Britain and superb cliff-top walks overlooking the River Severn below. From here, during summer, the Severn Valley Railway’s steam train chugs the scenic 16-mile route to Kidderminster. Attingham Park (NT), Benthall Hall (NT), Ironbridge Gorge and the old market town of Much Wenlock (with its medieval priory) are all within easy driving distance. Riding, sailing, fishing, golf, pubs and restaurants locally. Shop 2 miles, pub 6 miles.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Cooking utensils were disorganised. Light switch in one bedroom (E) did not work and in bedroom. A toilet was constantly dripping. Apart from these minor things, property was excellent for our family get together. June 2012,
  2. As regular guests to the property we found the additions of broadband / sky tv / table tennis and table football (with balls!) / new large kitchen dishes a great added bonus. Oct 2010.
  3. Great location with lots of character and plenty of space for a large group. June 2010.
  4. Spacious, well equipped, though we did not like the 2 bedrooms with open access to the toilet. May 2010.
  5. Lots of space, but some bedrooms far from living area if you have young children suggest you tak monitors. April 2010.
  6. This property is a lovely setting for a peaceful getaway for a family/friends gathering. It is well off the beaten track surrounded by beautiful country side. The Granary has a pleasant rustic feel to it, and due to its size and layout, it lends itself to allowing individuals space whilst being a part of a large group. April 2010.
  7. Area and the amount of rooms available also the amenities available in each room. March 2010.
  8. Size was ideal and quality of the finish was good. Dec 2009.
  9. Lots of space. Lovely big sitting room. Kitchen was great but difficult to move around when people were sat at the tables. Dining room was amazing. Only negatives - the games room was freezing cold, walking between bedrooms and rest of house. Also would have been great to have a couple of board games available. Website details were not very accurate as were expecting 5 doubles and 2 twins but actually were 4 doubles and 3 twins. As a plus side all rooms were actually en-suite despite the information only suggesting 5 of the rooms were en-suite. Nov 2009.
  10. Excellent dining room, lounge, kitchen. Quiet location. Sept 2009.
  11. Stockbatch Granary was superb, for a 3 generation family holiday with 5 children, 6 years & under! Lots of room for them to play, especially the play-barn, which was superb! Everything we needed in the kitchen, & a superb dining-room. Bedrooms great! Loved it! Oct 2009.
  12. Very well equipped and attractive. July 2009.
  13. This was an excellent facility for our large family group; just what we had looked for. Space inside and out, so we’d have had a good time even in bad weather. April 2009.
  14. Fantastic property - so much space and so well renovated. March 2009.
  15. Beautiful place - especially for our big group. We had lots of room to spread out and a great time when we could all get together - especially dining around that great table! Feb 2009.
  16. A truly stunning property that exceeded our expectations. We were amazed by how well equipped it was and found everything to be of a very high standard. Feb 2009.
  17. Towels in east wing small but heating excellent, very warm. Kitchen very well equipped. Nov 2008.
