Property Description

Converted to a high standard, these two barn conversions (Betty’s Cottage DWP, and Ruth’s Cottage DWQ) adjoin one another and are set on a working beef farm, which stands on the Jurassic seam. Offering peace and tranquillity, the setting is a delight for countryside lovers with wonderful open views to be enjoyed from the shared garden and barbecue area. Many footpaths lead from the farm and nearby lanes, and the NCN also runs by the holiday cottages. The properties are set in the heart of Tamara Drewe country with some of the filming from the farm. The popular village of Evershot (Hardy’s Evershed in Tess of the D’Urbervilles) is 2 miles and offers village pub, bakery, and hotel restaurant. Bridport and Dorchester are all a short drive and offer individual shops, pubs and tearooms. The Jurassic coast is 15 miles. Shop 2 miles.

The good roads made travelling easy and the cottage was delightful, warm and cosy with Tom and Margaret even providing a real Christmas tree and twinkling lights.   4. The perfect base for visiting the Dorset Coast. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, but still allowed us space and privacy. The accommodation and surrounds were great for our family which included energetic twin boys. We would definitely visit again. April 2011.

  15. The owners were a delightful couple and farmer Tom took the children to see the cows and around the farm, they loved it! The cottage is beautiful with the most amazing views which is not really apparent from the web or photos. All in all a very good holiday cottage which we would highly recommend and will visit again.   16. Betty’s Cottage is a fantastic place to stay, clean and tidy also very comfortable, Margaret and Tom are very good hosts letting us see the cows and even help with milking. Our dogs also had a great time running through the fields whilst the cows were being milked. Definitely re-booking. July 2009.

  19. Very good location for the Ironman UK race, as it was quite and peaceful and could get a good nights rest before the big race. It was not a long drive to Sherbourne, about 15 mins drive. The Maltese athletes who stopped at the bungalow were amazed how dark it was outside as there was no light polution. Also the facilities were A Class, everything you would need for a away from it all break. Sept 2008.
  20. The owners were exceptionally friendly anad very helpful. The area is lovely for walks and although the pubs are 2 miles away the walk doesn’t seem that long; whether the cross country or road route. Dec 2007.
