These three holiday properties are furnished and equipped to a good standard and situated in pleasant, quiet countryside with splendid views of the surrounding hills and lakes. Skiddaw Cottage (ref W8310) is a detached former stable situated across the courtyard which has been renovated with charm and character, whilst Stable Cottage (ref W8311) and Byre Cottage (ref W8312) are former barns which have been rebuilt into cosy ground floor holiday properties (the owner’s live in the accommodation above). You can walk or cycle locally or a short drive brings you along the nearby Bassenthwaite Lake where you can sail. It is 7 miles for Derwentwater and Keswick, with all its shops, cafes, pubs and varied restaurants and superb fell walking. The Georgian market town of Cockermouth is 7 miles. Shop 7 miles, pub and restaurant 100 yards.

W8310 is a detached former stable situated across the courtyard which has been renovated with charm and character, whilst W8311 and W8312 are former barns which have been rebuilt into cosy ground floor holiday properties.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room. Kitchen. 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet. Most rooms with beams.

Oil central heating included.

All properties: Electricity, gas, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot. Video. DVD. Stereo/CD. Gas cooker. Microwave. Shared laundry facilities. Shared courtyard with furniture. Portable barbecue. Parking (2 cars). No smoking.

  7. We have stayed several times at this property and are always assured of a warm welcome by the owners. The interior is kept to a high standard and is spacious enough for 4 people. There is always milk in the fridge on arrival for a refreshing brew and a man calls every Sunday with a selection of papers to buy. There is plenty of parking and it is well lit up at night and close to a local hotel. It is set in a quite location and is about a 15min drive into Keswick and about 5 mins from Bassenthwaite Lake and is in an ideal location for the breeding Osprey, view point. The main reason we originally choose this cottage was that it welcomed pets, in fact it turned out to be very pet friendly and our two labs seem to enjoy themselves. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone, despite the Lakeland weather, we always enjoy our break at the cottage. June 2011.

  17. Very comfortable cottage with two bedrooms. We had four adults and the second bedroom was probably more suitable for children than adults as it had smallish single beds and we had a 6’4" man in one but he coped! Kitchen was very well fitted out and it was all we needed for the week. Aug 2009.
  18. The property was within easy reach of shopping at Cockermouth avoiding the tourist hot spot of Keswick. Skidaw was in walking distance as was the lake and two pubs/ restaurant and a small zoo. Compact, all services easily accessible. July 2009.
