Property Description

Superbly located in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with long-distance views from the rear towards Malham Cove, these three properties form part of a barn conversion dating back to the 1800s. Exposed stonework, beams and arches are a feature in their well furnished interiors. They are set on the owners’ working farm (keep dogs under control), upon which the owners run a farm shop – a selection of local produce and crafts can be purchased and make unique souvenir ideas. With their own separate garden areas complete with barbecue equipment, the cottages can be booked together to accommodate larger groups wishing to holiday together, yet retain their independence.
Surrounded by rolling countryside criss-crossed with the limestone walls for which this region is renowned, each forms an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts, with stunning walks from the doorstep leading to Malham Cove, Gordale Scar, Malham Tarn and Janet’s Foss. The historic market town of Skipton is close at hand, boasting one of England’s best preserved Norman castles. Take a leisurely boat trip along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, step back in time with a narrated ghost walk around the town’s backwaters, or hunt for a bargain at the bustling street market – its stalls laden with local produce. An alternative selection of shops and tearooms can be found in Settle (6 miles), an ideal base for embarking on a journey aboard the famous Settle to Carlisle Railway. Set on the banks of the River Wharfe, the ruined priory of Bolton Abbey offers a picturesque setting for picnics and strolls along the river bank, and serves as a good starting point for more challenging hikes through forest and heath. Plenty of good restaurants and country pubs serving real ales and fine local fayre in the vicinity. Shop 10 yards.

This property is close to the 2014 Tour de France route, come and experience the spectacular scenery for yourself and follow in the trail of some true cycling legends.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Excellent property with superb furnishings and facilities; excellent taste and suited the property - a converted barn. For our personal use, a downstairs loo would have made all the difference, and I would be a little worried about a summer holiday with no opening windows in the twin bedded room, but these are only nit-picking. Made very welcome. Tea room and farm shop next door - excellent. Overall, very well thought out and managed. Sept 2012.
  2. The premises were well furnished - smart but comfortable. Liked the wooden floors upstairs. Bathrooms good. Kitchen well equipped. No complaints at all. Host and Hostess very helpful. One comment - we did not pick up the stone staircase information from the information listed - it was there but we missed it. We had a 18 month old child. However, the host soon put up a stair gate without being asked. June 2010.
  3. The property had a lot of character, it was clean and comfortable. Aug 2009.
  4. A very attractive, comfortable and well equipped barn conversion with fantastic views from the living room. We didn’t experience any problems with sound traveling through the walls that were mentioned in some earlier reviews. A very attractive barn conversion. Fantastic view from living room. Property was clean and well equipped. July 2009.
  5. The accommodation was really very good, i don’ think the pictures do it justice. There is an amazing farm shop only a few meters away from the cottage where you could get a wide range of local produce. The owners are lovely and very helpful, the views from the front of the cottage are gorgeous. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property to anyone and would definitely stay there again. The only slight problem is how thin the walls are in the cottage, you can’t hear people next door but in between bedrooms and bathrooms, it didn’t cause us any problems though. The furnishing were of very good quality, not what you usually get and the kitchen is very spacious. Feb 2009.
  6. If walking lovers, this property is slap bang in the middle of a range of fantastic places to go & ramble. The views = Fantastic. The farm shop next door = VERY convenient. The property = Very comfortable & homely. A nice "welcome home" after a long day out exploring! Nov 2008.
  7. The acommodation was superb, spotless, the owner very helpful, will be returning. Sept 2008.
  8. Stable Cottage was an extremely comfortable base for a holiday in the Yorkshire Dales. The views from property are spectacular. March 2008.
  9. Excellent accommodation, great views and wonderful walking country. May 2008.
  10. Superb view of Malham Cove. On site owners very helpful. On site shop excellent, choice of food available and able to order meat/bread etc. June 2007.
  11. The cottage was very comfortable, the setting ideal and the farm shop a real treat! Fantastic location for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. March 2007.
  12. Everything was lovely... our only gripe is that the walls between units were a bit thin, so we had to tip-toe and whisper a lot. Everything else showed great attention to detail. Aug 2007.
