Property Description

Converted from an 18th-century stable, this attractive and comfortable single storey cottage provides modern facilities whilst retaining character and original features. The village has several shops and pubs, the famous Old Swan hotel, and the historic ruins of Minster Lovell Hall on the banks of the River Windrush are close by. You can have a great day out at Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, 13 miles, or stroll around the Oxford colleges and galleries, 16 miles. The Cotswold towns of Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold and Cirencester are a short drive. Stratford, Warwick and many National Trust properties are within easy reach. Shop and pub 300 yards.

  1. The property was good and the secure garden made it easier for taking a dog. The Windrush and the Talbot Inn are very dog friendly and the staff very friendly. The Cotswolds Wildlife Park is also good to visit, dogs on leads made welcome and they can visit most of the park. The weather was bad so we lost one day of holiday. The property is on the edge of the Cotswolds but recommend a visit to Uffington Castle, the white horse etc and then the walk to Wayland Smithy. May 2012.

  4. It was our second stay this year at Stable cottage and we enjoyed it as much as we did in spring. To us the cottage, the landlords, the surroundings are perfect. Every place of interest you would want to visit in this area is in easy reach as well as nice pubs, shopping facilities and petrol stations. Great place for dogs, too. Sept 2011.
  5. Wonderful, peaceful location, easy access to Cotswold villages, Oxford and local walks. Beautiful, cosy cottage, thoughtfully equipped. Well stocked Spar store in walking distance and plenty of good eating places nearby (one 5 min walk away, the rest require a car). The owners are very warm and welcoming but not in the least bit intrusive. Aug 2011.

  7. We had a delightful time at Stable Cottage, it ticked all the boxes. Great location for exploring the Cotswolds with its charming villages, lots of beautiful N.T. properties and of course dignified but crowded Oxford. Perfect place for dogs, too. Seemed our twelve year old Swiss cattle dog smartened, walking especially Sherbourne Estate, Badbury Hill and nearby most lovely pastures around Minster Lovell Hall and river Windrush. May 2011.
  8. Wonderful bijou accommodation which was once a stable (hence the name) in a quiet but very accessible location. One main room which is the living/dining/kitchen area and one bedroom with on suite shower room. Although small there is plenty of storage space and is well equipped with the necessary home essentials. This cottage is great for relaxing in with a pretty lawned garden + patio with table and chairs. A good range of Videos, DVDs and books to enjoy if time prevails. Sept 2010.

  18. Cottage even nicer than the photo, well equipped with many thoughtful extras: books, videos, games, jigsaws, flowers, ornaments. Delightful accommodation and garden, extremely nice owners. We didn’t want to go home! May 2007.
