Enveloped by superb scenery, it is set in an excellent central location for walking, touring and participating in water sports. Ambleside 3 miles. Windermere 8 miles. Shop 3 miles, pub/restaurant 1 mile.

  4. We have just come back from an excelent holiday in the Lake district. We stayed at the Squirells in Neaum Crag, the property was located in nice wooded area overlooking a tarn complete with ducks. The location was central in the Lake district, allowing us to explore the area. May 2011.

  6. Very adequate for two people. Lovely outlook from the French windows. Only complaint was that the shower kept going hot and cold. Sept 2009.

  9. We have been in the Squirrels before so we know what we are getting. The accommodation is good, the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner and the drain was blocked but the previous visitors, which we cleared. March 2009.

  12. We were able to walk straight into the hills from our property, saving on car parking (quite expensive in the lakes!)There was a local pub a half a mile away through the woods. You probably need to be a walker and fit to stay in this accommodation as its all on a steep hill! Sept 2008.

I thought the accommodation was lovely, it was close to Ambleside which we found helpful for shopping etc. The accommodation was lovely and very clean on arrival, it had everything we needed for our stay. I found the owners very helpful too, we got slightly lost when arriving in Ambleside as the satnav took us in the wrong direction and due to us not knowing the area, we called the owners and they guided us to where we was staying, which we found very helpful and thought this was really nice of them as it was their saturday night. We had a great time in the lakes, very relaxing. Recommend the accommodation and location to anyone. Nov 2008.

  16. I would say that the property needs to be described slightly more accurately, as it is on a complex of holiday apartments, this was not apparent from the property description. May 2006.
