Set within its own garden, this detached timber cottage creates a cosy holiday base in a quiet rural location, in the village of Newtonmore, in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. The area is an outdoor enthusiasts paradise with a variety of year-round pursuits on offer - from scenic walks, fishing, shooting, golf, horse riding, cycling and of course skiing. Also a variety of castles, gardens and distilleries to visit and visits to Cairngorm Funicular Railway and Highland Wildlife Park make for great days out. Inverness, Loch Ness and Fort William are also easily reached. Shop, pubs and restaurant 400 yards.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen with sloping ceiling and wooden floor. 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Multi-fuel burner in living room included. Electric central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot and high chair on request. Freeview TV. DVD. CD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Enclosed lawned garden with sitting-out area and furniture. Barbecue. Parking (2 cars). Cycle store. No smoking. NB: Stream 20 yards.

  1. This property was a great choice, cleanliness second to none, lovely little touches that made it really comfortable. Nice to be within walking distance of local amenities, couple of cosy pubs and Co-Op near enough to walk to. Great location for accessing other areas of the Highlands without driving too far. The owner came to check up on us to see if we had everything we needed. The homemade brownies and bottle of wine to welcome us was a lovely touch. We even had a charger posted back to us which we’d forgotten. Couldn’t recommend this property more. Nov 2012.

  6. My husband had a fabulous 40th birthday at Squirrel View. We were delighted with the comfort of the cottage & the kids aged 5 & 3 had a fantastic holiday. Their highlight had to be seeing the red squirrel from the window. We loved it so much we’ll definitely be back. July 2012.
  7. The welcome received was very nice, and the property itself was well maintained and exceptionally clean. The location is perfect for anyone who wants peace and quiet, with immediate access to good walking and great scenery. Thoroughly enjoyed the holiday all needs catered for, will definitely return.   8. A lovely little cottage in a quiet location, excellent location for hillwalking and a good base for touring the area. Good food and beer in the Glen Hotel just a short walk away. We didn’t see any squirrels but there was a deer in the garden one morning. Our 2 year old daughter loved the swing in the garden and the nearby wildlife park. June 2012.
  9. We found cottage very clean and cosy. The garden was very large, which attracted lots of wild life, birds, red squirrels and the odd deer, because the property was joined on to woodland. Will be back again. June 2012.
