1. These terms and conditions should be read with the Booking Conditions and insurance information in our brochures or on our website. Especially note Sections 2, 4 and 7 of the Booking Conditions
2. Offer applies only to bookings for 2014 which are booked before 13th April 2014.
3. The low deposit payable under this offer is £25.
4. Does not apply to properties that sleep 10 or more.
5. The difference between the £25 low  deposit and the usual deposit shown in our main brochure or website is payable with the balance payment, which we must receive no later than 10 weeks before your booking starts, or at the time of cancellation if you cancel your booking. This payment will include all applicable charges as detailed on your booking confirmation, including any insurance premiums and any Ferry costs. If payment is not received in full on time, we can treat your booking as cancelled by you for a non-refundable reason. If this happens, you will be responsible for cancellation charges (as shown in our main brochure or our website) including any deferred Booking Fee, Personal Travel Insurance and Ferry crossings that you have chosen to buy, all of which must be paid immediately.

Property Description

Situated at Staithes, near Whitby, these former World War 1 army barracks are in an idyllic position close to the countryside and sea. Four of the barracks have been ingeniously and tastefully transformed to provide good quality accommodation retaining much rustic character and charm. The remaining 7 lodges retain their near original condition as a visual reminder of their former function. Each refurbished lodge has the added advantage of parking and an outdoor sitting area.
Situated just off the Cleveland Way, there are many fine moorland and cliff top walks as well as golf links nearby. There is a leisure centre 2 miles down the road and a 2-minute stroll down the cobbled street brings you to the centre of the picturesque fishing village with its small harbour nestling beneath rugged cliffs. Step back in time and walk the quaint narrow passages, as Captain James Cook himself must have done. Here in Staithes there are village shops, pubs, cafes and a restaurant. Why not travel on Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Express (the North Yorkshire Moors Railway) through ’Heartbeat’ country or visit Whitby and its famous Abbey which is 11 miles away.
NB: As the four lodges are in close proximity to one another, they could be booked for groups of up to 24 guests. Additional en-suite rooms available on site, on request with owner.

Ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen. 2 twin bedrooms, both with en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Gas cooker. Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Large decked area and seating.

All properties: Gas central heating, gas and bed linen included. Electricity by £1 meter. Towel hire. Cot and high chair on request. Video. Microwave. Spacious grounds. Ample parking. No smoking.

  3. We found this a fantastic base for our family - mum, dad, 13 yr old & 10 yr old boys, and 2 mad collies!! It has an enclosed garden which is perfect for letting the dogs play. The kitchen was well equipped, the property lovely and warm and with 2 en-suites I didn’t have to share a bathroom with the boys! When we were there it was lovely and quiet, but I can imagine when the cottages and campsite are full it could seem quite busy. April 2012.

  5. We enjoyed our stay but the lighting in the seating area was poor and it was difficult to read and would have been a real problem if we had been stuck in the cottage by bad weather. Basic cleaning OK but there was quite a bit of muck in areas not routinely cleaned. It would have been nice to have been able to push the beds properly together. Oct 2011.

  19. The cottage was excellent. When we arrived the owner had left milk, a newspaper, flowers and biscuits, we thought this a wonderful gesture. We wanted a peaceful break and it was just great. We just wish we could have stayed longer. Nov 2008.
