Property Description

Slowpool is a detached period property which has been extended to provide spacious accommodation for a large family or friends - who want to holiday together or have a special occasion to celebrate. It occupies a very rural setting at the end of a track in a 6-acre wood, 3 miles south of Honiton. The wood is a haven for wildlife with regular sighting of badgers, deer and an abundance of birds. There is a network of footpaths in the woods for guests to use at their leisure. The coast of Sidmouth is a mere 20-minute drive.
This is a superb house with total privacy; it has been decorated and furnished to a very high standard and boasts three wood-burning stoves, together with many original features. For walkers and bird-watchers, this really is the most suitable accommodation. There are so many walks to enjoy from the front door.
Many activities are available in the area including golf, fishing, horse riding and sailing. There are also numerous NT properties - all within a short drive. Exmouth is close by and has lovely 2-mile stretch of beach and was once home to the wives of Nelson and Byron respectively, whilst a bit further on lies the genteel town of Budleigh Salterton with its white-washed and thatched cottages which attracted such visitors as Noel Coward and PG Wodehouse. At Exeter, the South West Coastal Path Park is an ideal family day out. Exmoor National Park is also worth a visit, with its rugged landscape and ponies. Shops and pubs 3 miles.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Wonderful house and location. Daunting farm track entrance, so better suited to 4x4 vehicles particularly in autumn/winter months. High standard of accommodation. Oct 2011.
  2. The property is lovely and well equiped, lovely view directly from the property - including sightings of deer. Lots of great things to do in the area. The road to the property is poor but good enough for the Waitrose Delivery van to make it on our first evening. July 2011.
  3. Perfect for a ’get away from it all’ family holiday. Peaceful and isolated. Excellent accommodation best we have stayed in at your companies’ home lets. Tony Davies. May 2011.
  4. Slow pool was in the most beautiful setting, the web site doesn’t do it justice, the lane/ road which leads to the cottage was very long considering it was a single track road with not many passing places, but to be fair we never met anything coming the other way for the whole week. As you keep going down this country lane you think your lost until you drive into what looks like a field and the view to this house across to the woods is out of this world!!! The house inside we couldn’t fault, beautiful, each room furnished to an exceptionally high standard, we loved being there, we would definitely return for another holiday! Feb 2011.
  5. The seclusion and tranquility. A truly beautiful home. The hot tub which was opened again for our use after my request. Oct 2010.
  6. Amazing, away from it all but, with all the mod cons. We could have stayed there forever! Sept 2010.
  7. The house was nice and the countryside was very restful. A small remark about the wooden floor in the bedroom area because that did not allow perfect isolation. Aug 2010.
  8. The accommodation was immaculate and spacious in an idyllic setting. July 2010.
  9. The house was in a lovely location. Imacuately furnished. Lovely and clean and the housekeeper could not have been more helpful. In fact we could not fault it. July 2010.
  10. Location of the property was outstanding and quality of accommodation excellent. The house was beautifully furnished and the Hot-Tub an added luxury! The remote position surrounded by fields and woodland inhabited by deer and other wildlife was idyllic! May 2010.
  11. Lovely setting, peaceful surroundings and very well furnished although there is a slight lack of local amenities. April 2010.
  12. The property was beautifully furnished, extremely warm and cosy inside (despite the snow and ice outside), sparkling clean and located in a very peaceful setting. The housekeeper was extremely helpful, and the additional touch of adding a fresh Christmas tree (decorated in a tasteful manner) was appreciated. Jan 2010.
  13. Great plot and local woods for walking. Adequate bathrooms and bedrooms for the number. Dec 2009.
  14. The property met all of our expectations. We loved the location and enjoyed all the house and surrounding area had to offer in exceptionally sunny autumn weather. Oct 2009.
