Property Description

Situated in idyllic Berrynarbor – several times winner of ‘Best Kept Village’, this 18th-century farmhouse offers comfortable holiday accommodation within a glorious plantsman’s garden. The village provides everything from a quaint pub to a 13th-century church, tea room and village post office/shop. Little has changed in this farming area which provides easy access to the golden, sandy beaches of Woolacombe and Saunton, and the rugged beauty of Exmoor and its Heritage Coastline.
Nearby Combe Martin, ‘gateway to the Exmoor National Park’, is famous for its sandy coves and majestic headlands and offers a choice of shops, cafés and one of Devon’s oldest inns. The Victorian resort of Ilfracombe has an old world charm with beaches reached by tunnels through the rocks, smugglers’ alleys, a bustling fishing harbour offering boat trips and a lively cultural scene at the Landmark theatre. The area boasts its own castle, with award-winning attractions ideal for a family day out, a picturesque yacht harbour and walks through the beautiful Sterridge Valley.
Just a little further afield is the market town of Barnstaple with a daily pannier market, good shops, restaurants, museum, cinema and theatre. From Barnstaple visitors can follow the Tarka Trail which runs through some of the most sparsley populated areas in Devon. For those wishing an alternative method of transport, then bikes are available to hire and there are designated cycle trails for some of the trail. Croyde Bay is the perfect place for surfing and swimming, while Saunton has championship golf. Tennis, riding, quad biking and water sports all available locally. Shop ½ mile.

  1. Lovely location and great house, owners very friendly. Loads of good walking close by and well situated for visiting plenty of places of interest. Our entire party of 8 plus 3 dogs enjoyed every minute. May 2012.
  2. Well equipped cottage and very friendly owners. Enough ’things’ there to make it feel like a home and not a bare rental. Lots of books and games. Village is very friendly and local community shop excellent. Bread is fab. Oct 2011.
  3. We had a lovely week here and really appreciated the en suite facilities in every room. Sept 2011.
  4. Great location. Accommodation was extremely clean with everything one could hope for. 5 mins walk to the local pub Ye Olde Globe. Good selection of real ales and great pub food. Really good for kids also. April 2011.
  5. Found the cottage very good for 4 couples as all rooms were en suite. Garden was lovely to sit out in and our dog enjoyed it too! Owners were very helpful and we enjoyed the local produce for sale at the community shop. Local pub good for food and within walking distance with a couple of hills to negotiate. Overall we had a wonderful time with wall to wall sunshine. April 2011.
  6. Spacious and comfortable; good location for exploring the area not great for those who find steep slopes difficult as walking to/from village shop involves a steep climb. July 2010.
  7. The property was in a beautiful setting. My mother had a fall in Coombe Martin and the cottage owners, living next door, were extremely helpful and supportive towards our situation. July 2010.
  8. The rural setting, the large & interesting garden, peaceful. June 2010.
  9. Lovely Devonshire cottage with beautiful garden. Well placed for walking the South West Path and launching our RIB. We were able to take our dog, which obviously ruled out quite a lot of other properties. ps. It would have been nice to have towels provided. May 2010.
  10. All bedrooms ensuite. Everything you would need in kitchen. Comfy beds. Nov 2009.

  15. The biggest attraction to this cottage for us was the fact that all bedrooms were en-suite which is really useful when there are 8 in the party. We also adore the beautiful, established garden and the fact that there is everything you need in the cottage to make your holiday enjoyable - whatever the weather! July 2008.
  16. Sloley Farm’s location is a fascinating hilly site on the edge of vibrant Berrynarbor village. The farmhouse is rustic with modern facilities, lovely views, enjoyable gardens, fantastic walks along quiet lanes and footpaths. Coombe Martin, Ilfracombe and coastal paths/bays etc are all within walking distance for energetic walkers. For the cyclist there are some challenging climbs and open roads away to Exmoor and along the coast. Sept 2008.

  19. Owner very friendly & helpful. Delightful location. Nice to find 4 ensuite double/twin bedrooms for the 4 couples. Normally one couple finishes up in a twin or bunk beds with no facilities!! Excellent coastal walking. June 2006.
