Property Description

These attractive holiday cottages have been carefully renovated from former barns, and have kept many of their original features including exposed stonework. They enjoy a perfect location on the banks of the River Avon, and on the edge of the picturesque village of Bathampton, which is 2 miles from the centre of Bath. The Kennet and Avon Canal also runs through the village, enabling walkers and cyclists to easily access Bath and beyond, enjoying the pubs and tea shops along the way. Boat trips can also be taken on the river and canal. Designated as a World Heritage Site, Bath presents some of the finest architectural sights in Europe, such as the Royal Crescent, the Circus and Pulteney Bridge. At the heart of the city next to Bath Abbey is the Roman Baths, which gives a fascinating look into the Roman bathing complex. There is a good variety of museums and galleries, including the American Museum and the Jane Austen Centre. Festivals, theatre and street entertainment bring life and excitement to this vibrant city, and the Thermae Bath Spa with rooftop pool is a popular attraction. Bath is also a celebrated shopping centre, with many unique and independent retailers, and the variety of restaurants, bars and cafes leave guests spoilt for choice. There are many parks and gardens to relax in, away from the bustle of the city, and guided open top bus tours take you out to the perimeter of the city to enjoy the glorious views of the stunning Georgian architecture. There are many National Trust properties to visit, including Prior Park, Dyrham Park, and further afield Westwood Manor, Iford, The Courts, Stourhead and Lacock Abbey. For keen walkers and cyclists there is a dedicated 13 mile traffic-free path from the edge of Bath to Bristol, the Bath Skyline, and also The Cotswolds Way national trail. Within easy reach are the family attractions of Longleat Safari Park, the famous Gorge and Caves at Cheddar, Wookey Hole paper mill and caves. The city of Bristol is worth a visit, with its revamped harbour area, SS Great Britain, Clifton Suspension Bridge, and the vast array of shopping malls and restaurants. Glastonbury Tor and Abbey, the city of Wells and the picturesque Cotswolds are within an hour’s drive. Fishing is also available and cycle hire by prior arrangement. Shops 1 mile and pub 500 yards.

  1. Beautiful property in a lovely setting, the cottage is decorated and furnished to high standard and was very comfortable. The walk along the tow path into Bath was lovely and only took 40 minutes. We all had a wonderful weekend and will definitely be booking the cottage again for our yearly get together. Oct 2012.

  5. Excellent cottage the photos on the website do not do it justice. The farm is lovely and peaceful with 2 fantastic pubs within 10 minutes walking distance.You feel like your in the middle of nowhere yet Bath is only 2 miles away, it was heaven. June 2012.

  8. We were so impressed with the sheep shed ,it was spacious, spotlessly clean, modern and so very well equipped, the owner/caretaker was really helpful and friendly. We had eggs, milk, bread, soap, towels etc provided. Near to Longleat Safari Park, cheddar gorge, Bristol etc, a lovely lovely place to stay and we hope to return again. May 2012.
  9. The Sheep Shed was in a great location for Bath and the surrounding area. If not wanting to drive into Bath, public transport was available 8 minutes’ walk away, or a 1-2 mile walk along the Kennet and Avon canal into the centre of the city. The accommodation was spotlessly clean. The kitchen had a dishwasher and washing machine. The beds were really comfortable. Two suggestions: a hairdryer would have been useful and a shelf in the en-suite bathroom. A choice of 3 pubs/restaurants within a 5 minute walk. So to sum up, a great place to stay. April 2012.

Really appreciated the welcome card and tea/coffee that were left for our arrival and the fresh eggs that were left for us during the week were delicious. Great location for seeing Bath and surrounding area - You can even walk along the canal into Bath. April 2012.
  11. The property was absolutely fantastic and the hospitality shown by the owners was second to none. They left us a welcome pack and gave us some fresh eggs on each day of our stay.This is a wonderful property and is extremely close to Bath but with the added attraction that it is also in the countryside. We all had a fantastic time and we cannot recommend this accommodation enough, would definitely visit again. March 2012.
  12. We stayed in the sheep shed for a girly weekend away, it’s in a quiet location in the pretty village of Bathampton but still close to the city centre, we had evertything we needed and more at the cottage! Overall was a great weekend away and would definitely recommend! March 2012.

  15. Very clean and well looked after. Feels newly fitted and couldn’t really find fault. Watch out for the toll bridge, which you can avoid if you approach on the road south of the river. Lovely rural location within easy reach of Bath. June 2011.
  16. The location was excellent, as it was situated equi-distant between the two eating /drinking eastablishments and the river or canal.Access to town was good via the river. As I said in the visitors book a few shelves in the bathrooms would be a big help. May 2011.
  17. The accommodation was top class with no expense spared on fixtures & fittings. Everything was provided, towels, bed linen, washing up liquid etc and it was nice to find milk in the fridge and there were even some treats left for us. The accommodation has only recently been released for renting and I would certainly visit again and have already passed on the details to friends and family. Each cottage has been individually decorated and there are a variety of different sized cottages available to rent. March 2011.
