Shaplands Barn has been lovingly converted - offering light and airy living. One of a pair, it lies in a quiet lane in a small village. The village is in an AONB and is famous for being on the Cotswold Way. Only 4 miles from jct 18 on the M4, the holiday property is very well placed for exploring - whether walking, cycling or day trips to NT Dyrham Park, Westonbirt Aboretum, or Lacock. Bath is 6 miles away with famous Roman baths and Georgian stone crescents. Nearby is the village of Marshfield with village shop and gastro pubs. Shops 2 miles.

Large beamed living/dining room with wood-burning stove, wooden floor, window with traditional shutters and large French doors to courtyard garden, open-plan with large kitchen with stone floor. Separate toilet. Large galleried area with seating, day bed (for +2) and glass and oak balustrade overlooking ground floor. First floor: Double bedroom en-suite shower room with double shower and toilet. Double bedroom with 6ft (zip & link beds). Bathroom with shower attachment and toilet.

  2. We used Shaplands Barn as a basecamp to explore the western counties. However, the beautifully refurbished old barn would deserve to spend much more time in place. Though it provides all modern amenities and comforts the unique character of the old barn has been beautifully preserved - well done. Though it was pouring with rain, we spend a wonderfull week and would always return. June 2012.
  3. The cottage was lovely and had everything we possibly needed for us and our 18 month old. The location is beautiful and its only a 10 minute drive to Bath which is an amazing city with lots to see and do. We had sunshine all week and 20-22 degree temperatures which also made our stay so enjoyable, really due to this the only thing we could have done with was a grassy enclosed garden for our little one to run around in but she enjoyed herself regardless! The cottage was very well equipped and very clean. March 2012.

  6. The property has been renovated to an excellent standard. It is in a lovely quiet location, convenient for Bath, and plenty of National Trust properties - such as Dyrham Park - and the excellent Westonbirt Arboretum. The pubs in Marshfield are worth visiting, particularly The Lord Nelson pub. Oct 2011.

  8. Shaplands Barn is great modern converted barn and was a lovely place to stay, very light and spacious. The kitchen had every thing in you could possibly need. Very clean, owner introduced herself and was available if needed but didn’t bother us at all during our stay. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would go again... possibly in winter so we could light the log fire! Aug 2011.

  17. It was beautifully renovated, light and airy, fully equipped, extremely clean and tidy and despite being in a group of similar homes was very quiet. The village of Cold Ashdon is delightful. We were also very grateful for the thoughtful extras provided by the owner - wine, biscuits, the fire made up ready to light etc. Altogether exceeded our expectations. July 2010.
