Wonderful sea views

For fans of Foyle’s War, the ITV World War ll detective drama series, Seagull’s Nest is ideally situated as it resides in one of the roads where filming takes place and is opposite Foyle’s house! Situated in the heart of the picturesque Old Town, this holiday apartment commands sea views and is within easy walking distance of the beach. To the east is the majestic cliff coastline and views across the English Channel - the East Hill Country Park has miles of interesting varied walks and is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Rare bird, plant and wildlife species can be found there as well as wonderful views, walks and places to explore. Situated near the beach, country park and with good train connections to London. Plenty of National Trust properties within driving distance - Bodiam Castle, Scotney Castle, Batemans, as well as Battle Abbey, Camber Sands and Herstmonceux Castle. Or just wander about the fishing beach, with its colourful boats and traditional beach-launched fleet. Hastings Old Town and St Leonards down the road both have art galleries, pubs/restaurants/cafes, and quirky bric a brac and antique shops. There are many memorable events throughout the year, including Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras), Jack in the Green, Pirate Day, Old Town Week, Carnival Week, Seafood and Wine Festival, Coastal Currents Art Festival and the famous bonfire night in late October. Perfectly placed in the middle of the popular Old Town area but also set in a quiet street, Seagull’s Nest gives you the best of both worlds! Interesting shops and even a small cinema 150 yards away. So much to see and do! Many cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs in adjoining street 100 yards away.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Lovely apartment, full of character, would recommend. Oct 2012.
  2. Lovely flat but basic - however the value for money was great. Excellent location for the old town just minutes away. As was the sea. Very basic kitchen but we didn’t go to cook! We couldn’t work out the parking to start with but eventually parked at the top of the hill. There were short cuts to walk to the car. March 2012.
  3. Great location in the heart of Old Town Hastings, which is full of charm. Wonderful seaviews and cosy accomodation. The kitchen is a bit basic (e.g. no microwave or dishwasher) but otherwise lovely place. Dec 2011.
  4. It is a charming flat and had everything we wanted, location was ideal for coffee shops and eating places, fresh fish from the fishing huts, we will go again soon. Sept 2011.
  5. This is a cosy and well appointed property , close to all amenities and the beach. Fantastic views and a very friendly seagull called norman!! Would recommend this to family and friends. Wonderful holiday !!! Aug 2011.
  6. Beautiful view across the rooftops of Hastings towards the sea. It was lovely waking up to the sun through the window and the sound of seagulls. We were in the Old Town within a matter of seconds. April 2011.
  7. It was quirky and arty, but it felt like home. Me and my wife were celebrating our honeymoon there. And it felt a bit like our first flat when we met and it was situated brilliantly with great views of beautiful sunrises and the sea. Near to the old town and seafront. So just a great place to have a holiday and great value for money! Dec 2010.
  8. The flat was as good as we had hoped for - full of charm and was a real treat to stay there. Oct 2010.
  9. This is a fantastic property - clean, light and airy with great views and a wonderful book collection. A great relaxing base for a holiday in the Hastings area. July 2010.
  10. The location of the property was ideal with good access to both the old and new parts of Hastings. Property good value considering the fact that it could sleep 3 adults. June 2010.
  11. Beautifully situated, beautiful views, nice environment. May 2010.
  12. Homely, idiosyncratic, good location. April 2010.
  13. The location in the Old Town was superb with wonderful views over the town & towards the sea. Mar 2010.
  14. Comfortable and homely. The flat is very quirky (the pictures and ornaments etc) and I loved the personal touches (the record player, the electric record collection and the variety of books to read). It made such a nice change from the nice but bland properties I’ve rented before. Jan 2010.
  15. The location was excellent for the old town restaurants and shops and the sea front. Feb 2010.
  16. A really different flat, decorated and furnished in a truly idiosyncratic and charming style. The views across the bay are stunning and waking up to the cry of the gulls over the higgledy piggledy rooftops of the old town was something else. This flat is a little gem. Oct 2008.
  17. Wonderful accommodation, excellently located, and with a wealth of 70s and 80s memorabilia - Albums (and turntable to play them on), books, magazines and games, which made our time there wonderfully enjoyable. Highly recommended. Oct 2008.
  18. This property was great to escape to after the xmas rush. The owner was very welcoming and the setting is amazing, tucked away quietly but within easy reach of everything. My wife and i were overjoyed how good this holiday was, if you want a nice quiet break book seagulls nest, you wont be sorry. Jan 2009.
  19. It was a very homely property. It had lots of individual pieces of decoration and a selection of books, magazines and music which made the property all the more interesting. There were also great views of Hastings and the sea from the window which were not shown in their full beauty in the photos shown on your web site. March 2009.
