Property Description

Originally built around 1860, but was demolished during the hurricane of 1987 and rebuilt in 1989, (retaining many original beams) the holiday property stands detached in 2½ acres of the owner’s land, with an area of natural garden for guests’ sole use. The coast is within 3 miles and Rye is 7 miles away. Shops 3 miles, pub 1 mile.

  2. The location of the property gives access to many walks to suit all fitness levels. We have 2 golden retrievers who enjoyed the challenge of the ducks, chickens & geese + wild rabbits and the fence was adequate. In this day and age it seemed odd that there was no internet connection and perhaps this could be looked at. It was a pleasure to stay in this property and we would recommend it for an extended family. (We had 6 adults, 3 grandchildren & 2 dogs.) The downstairs bedroom would be well suited to a less nimble person but the access to the shower cubicle is very limited, in fact my husband couldn’t use it! Apart from that - lovely & would like to go again. June 2012.
  3. Excellent accommodation in a beautiful location. The enclosed garden makes it ideal both for small children and for pets. Lots of parking. May 2012.

This beautifully converted house is incredibly conveniently placed for lovely walks (dog friendly), beaches, villages etc. Internally, it would be difficult to imagine what more could have been done to make life pleasant for visitors and I have never seen such a clean, well-equipped kitchen in any other rental property. I know that some previous visitors have voiced dislike of the large snooker table which they say limits seating in the TV area but we six adults - none of us regulars with a cue - enjoyed using it in the brief intervals of time between being out and about and sharing meals (and cards) around the table in the kitchen. Certainly, there was plenty of very comfortable seating for reading, chatting and snoozing and I think the TV was turned on once for a brief glance at some cricket. We were very lucky with superb weather and the gas BBQ provided gave sterling service. The owner did not hover but was always available if needed. A wonderful break for my family. March 2012.
  5. Cottage is absolutely lovely, there is everything in the cottage you need to make your stay comfortable. Bedrooms are a good size and the bonus was that each bedroom has its own bathing facility. The views and walks are great with Rye and Hastings within a short drive away. We tried a different local pub to eat every night and they were all very good. I suppose if I have a complaint (its not a complaint just a suggestion) it would be to have a smaller snooker table in the lounge to give more room for people to sit to watch the television or chat. March 2012.

  7. The snooker table is an excellent addition to this lovely property. The area is great with some local pubs worth visiting, particularly the Two Sawyers. Book for a quiet relaxing break! Oct 2011.

  9. The property is spacious with excellent bedroom accommodation, in a quiet location close to Hastings and Rye. The kitchen is well equipped and there is plenty of parking space. However, as non-snooker players we felt that too much lounge space was occupied by the snooker table with the result that seating and relaxing space in the lounge was somewhat cramped for six adults. Sept 2011.
  10. The barn was exceptional in every way along with the owners concerns for ensuring our stay was uninterrupted. We were greeted on entering with a bottle of wine and flowers. The garden was enclosed and even kept our beagle in! That is a first in all the properties we have stayed in with your company! This is worth mentioning I feel for future dog owners who have the same concern about their dogs escaping from a holiday destination. The property was well equipped, comfortable and clean. We will definitely consider this property again. The owners even supplied an extra fridge as sometimes properties that sleep nine can not have sufficient refrigeration! We had a wonderful time! Probably the best stay ever with your company! July 2011.
  11. Snooker table brilliant for 2 teenage boys (and Dad remembering his misspent youth), but it does mean that there is no room in the living room area for all guests to relax and watch TV. Curtain area between bedrooms a bit of a drag but we were expecting it. Aug 2011.

  15. Lovely spacious barn conversion in superb country location with excellent views. Pool table a novelty although it does dominate the room. Good size kitchen with lots of equipment. Downstairs bedroom accessible for wheelchair although would benefit from handles for getting into the bath etc. Four spacious well-decorated bedrooms upstairs and two good size bathrooms. Easy parking for at least 4 cars. Decent beefeater pub nearby and short drive to Hastings/Rye. Lovely property and would return. Feb 2011.
