Featuring exposed stonework (this area is famed for its Tuffeau stone), exposed wooden beams, and modernised to a very good standard, the holiday home also benefits from an enclosed front garden with sunny aspect, and an enclosed courtyard garden to the side with direct access through French doors from the kitchen/diner.

Beyond this is a wealth of restaurants, bars, architecture and culture for which this area in general and Saumur in particular are famous.

Shop 550 yards (500m), café/bar and restaurant 110 yards (100m).

  1. Wonderful quiet townhouse near a superb restaurant and only 200m from the Loire River in a great town. Very well equipped and comfortable for relaxing both inside the house and in the new garden. Very clean and efficient shower room and comfortable bedrooms too. A real home from home. June 2012.
  2. After our drive from Calais in rain n more rain we arrived at the house. Sun! As soon as we opened the door we both wanted to buy it, WOW how lovely. So sweet. Wandered around Saumur, went up to the chateau and vinyard tour. We always planned to relax and the house was so well kitted out from kitchen equipment to books and lovely relaxing loungers in the garden, thats just what we did. A TV for those who needed it but we did not even turn it on. Planning our next visit and would go further out and about. June 2012.
  3. Lovely gite, lots of very welcome little extras including wine on arrival! Felt like we belonged as we stepped over the threshold, lovely gravel side garden to sit and relax in and a front one too, for people-watchers! Comfy corner sofa in living area, modern kitchen with plenty of utensils/crockery and an eating area overlooking the garden. Ideally located about 10 - 15 minutes stroll to centre of Saumur, quiet side street with the Loire literally around the corner. Plenty to do in and around Saumur - it is a good place for touring this wonderful area. Can altogether recommend the whole experience. March 2012.

  5. The gite was beyond our expectations. In a quiet location but within easy walking distance of the town and easy travelling distance of many lovely locations. Sept 2011.
  6. The property was well appointed and the owner is very helpful. I raised several points to her prior to the visit and she responded quickly and informatively. The location is good the town centre being some 10 - 15 minutes gentle walk away. The added bonus is the super restaurant (le Pot au Lapin)just two minutes walk away. Food is excellent and the owner and staff very friendly. Saumur is a very picturesque town with lots of attractive buildings, a château and of course the Loire river which was only a few yards away from the property.The are also good picnic areas close by. It is a good base for sight seeing and I found the Tourist Information Centre very helpful prior to my visit as I emailed for information which they sent very quickly. All in all a good experience.   7. The ambiance,location and the decor made this cottage feel like home rather than a holiday home.We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Saumur exploring the surrounding areas.We will hopefully be returning next year. May 2011.
  8. The cottage is very well positioned to walk along the river into town where there are a good selection of restaurants. There is a pleasant courtyard garden at the front that makes the most of the sun and is lovely to sit in to eat or read. There are many excellent places to visit nearby. May 2011.

  18. The cottage was a fully equipped home from home. It was close enough to the town to be in easy walking distance, but far enough away to be tranquil when preferred. It was very cosy and reassuring - like walking back in time in the nicest possible way (although it had all the modern conveniences). The garden was private and sheltered and a delightful place to spend the summer evenings. June 2009.
