  1. This property is one of the best appointed cottages we have stayed in. Attention to detail was superb, and Tim & Sally were very helpful, on hand to assist, with excellent local knowledge of roads, facilities etc, but kept a discreet distance at other times. Dec 2012.
  2. A very comfortable and spotlessly clean cottage in a very quiet and secluded rural location. Owners were helpful and friendly but not intrusive. Oct 2012.
  3. Lovely cottage and a warm welcome from Tim & Sally, the tea coffee milk cake & eggs were a lovely touch. The animals were an added bonus they ate us out of carrots! Good location for York & the Dales also the lovely coast. June 2012.
  4. Tim & Sally the owners of "Rusty’s Cottage"could not have been nicer. The Cottage was home from home, everything you needed was there and I mean everything. The pet animals at the rear were lovely to see each day. A nearby pub ( The Gold Cup ) at Low Catton is dog friendly and serves really good food. If you go into York, use the Park and Ride at "Grimston Bar" which is just over the main roundabout, it is so convenient, the parking is free and you just pay for the journey, it was £2:50p each when we were there in June 2012.Our whole holiday at "Buttercrambe"--in York--Scarborough--Helmsley and other villages in the area was so good, a return visit is on the cards. Alan & Margaret. June 2012.
  5. The owners of the property made us feel extremely welcome, they were very friendly and helpful and gave us useful tips about how to access local transport etc. They were amongst the best hosts we have ever encountered at our numerous cottage holidays. May 2012.

  9. This was a lovely peaceful area, just far enough out of York to enable easy access and for to me visit my birthplace. Tim and Sally gave us a great reception, showing us the cottage and all the equipment and then leaving us a cake, tea and coffee making things. The animals and chickens were an extra delight. All in all a superb, well furnished and homely cottage with friendly caring owners. Dec 2011.

  15. We had a fab time. The cottage is in a good location to explore both York itself and the neighbouring Whitby and Scarbrough. The owners house is very close but they are very accommodating and let you get on with enjoying your holiday. We took our small dog and the owners were very animal friendly and happy to accommodate the dog. We had a fab time and hope to return in the future. May 2011.
  16. The property is in the garden of the property’s owners, who keep animals in the field behind the cottage. The owners are very friendly and helpful and are usually at hand, looking after the animals, gardening etc. There is a sunny sitting-out terrace. The cottage is furnished, equipped and maintained to a very high standard. The surrounding countryside is green and very beautiful. April 2011.
  17. A beautiful and well equipped cottage. It had everything that you could need including farm animals to feed and fuss which definitely helps you to relax into the holiday. A car is essential as the shops are too far away to just pop out for a newspaper etc. April 2011.

The views from the cottage were lovely and the owners couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome and at home! It was a real 4star treat! I hope to return to Rusty’s. Excellent cottage!
