Property Description

Spectacular views over the bay and mountains.

Detached character cottage for 4.

This charming cottage has been lovingly restored and occupies a superb location on a small peninsula, surrounded by the clear waters of Bertraghboy Bay and was featured on the TV series ’Monty Halls’ Great Irish Escape’ in 2011.

There are stunning views across the bay to the ’Twelve Pins’ mountain range of Connemara, whilst a rocky shoreline is just 0.5 miles and a lovely sandy beach is 4 miles.

The nearby village of Roundstone offers traditional music and excellent seafood in local pubs and restaurants, as well as boat trips for sea angling. All in all, a wonderful location to retreat from your worldly cares. Shop, pubs and restaurants 3 miles.

Ground floor: Living/dining room. Kitchen. 1 double bedroom. Shower room with toilet. First floor: Second living room. 1 double bedroom with additional single (for alternative sleeping).

Open fire in living room (initial fuel included). Electric central heating and electricity by meter reading. Bed linen included. Cot. CD. Microwave. Washing machine. Tumble dryer. Grassed area with furniture. Parking (2 cars).

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. The owner loves fresh air & had the windows open when we arrived, it took a long time for the cottage to warm up!! March 2012.
  2. This cottage just has the best view and it was so nice to see the different birds and animals that visited the property. You really get a sense of isolation and peace. The Irish night in Roundstone was great fun and not just a "tourist attraction". July 2011.
  3. An excellent location on an island linked by a bridge surrounded by the Atlantic. The views overlooking Roundstone and the twelve bens mountains are awe inspiring. An excellent location to wind down and take in the glory of Connemara. Watch out for the "stubborn" hare who pays a visit to the back garden almost every evening - he thinks the property his his and wont run away until you get really close to him. June 2011.
  4. Excellent views and remote and peaceful. Sept 2010.
  5. Excellent for two people. The downstairs bedroom was an good size making moving around in there easy. The cottage was very light and airy and panoramic views from the door. Very very quiet, heard about 2 planes the whole holiday, hardly any boats. Guests NEED a 1:50000 scale maps to find the beaches and places of interest, smaller scale maps just didn’t show any of the little access lanes. If there were more people they would have to sleep up stairs which had sloping roofs which made access a little awkward. Sept 2010.
  6. Comfortable, clean and homely. Aug 2010.
  7. Full of character, superb views. Aug 2010.
  8. Superb position with marvelous views! However it was very sunny while we were there. I imagine that one may have a different opinion if the weather was cold, wet and windy! The only down-side was that there was no access to the sea-shore directly from the cottage. May 2010.
  9. The location was incredible, the views from the windows over the water and back to the mountains were way beyond our expectations. The photos definitely didn’t do it justice. Feb 2010.
  10. Beautiful setting. Authentic Connemara experience. July 2009.
  11. The view from the cottage was outstanding. April 2009.
  12. This holiday cottage is in a lovely location and whilst it initially appears remote and conveys a wonderful ’get away from it all’ feel, you are only a short distance away from the nearest village. A perfect holiday for those wishing to get away from the hustle and bustle of busy towns and cities and being virtually at the end of the road, there is very little noise from traffic to disturb the peacefulness. Heaven. April 2009.
  13. Views from the cottage were spectacular. Aug 2009.
  14. A lot of thought had gone into the presentation of the property making it very homely whilst retaining the character of an Irish cottage. Outstanding views that exceeded our expectations. Aug 2009.
  15. Beautifully restored cottage with tasteful furnishings. Extra touches (milk, tea, coffee, biscuits and fire set to light) on arrival were very welcome after long journey. Spectacular scenery and open fire in the evening makes it an ideal spot to relax and unwind. March 2008.
  16. The perfect place to relax and get away from it all. Beautiful location. July 2008.
  17. A fantastic retreat, it is hard to describe just how beautiful the view from the cottage is and how peaceful it was. I would recommend this place without hesitation. Sept 2007.
  18. A magical spot in a mythical landscape. The cottage was prefect and your little touches made it very welcoming. All in all it couldn’t be better. Sept 2006.
  19. We’ve loved being here - must be the most spectacular and beautiful location for a cottage that I’ve ever stayed in. The changing weather and wonderful scenery made this a special week. Shall miss returning to this cottage at the end of the day - thank you. Aug 2006.
