2. Offer applies only to bookings for 2014 which are booked before 13th April 2014.
3. The low deposit payable under this offer is £25.
4. Does not apply to properties that sleep 10 or more.
5. The difference between the £25 low  deposit and the usual deposit shown in our main brochure or website is payable with the balance payment, which we must receive no later than 10 weeks before your booking starts, or at the time of cancellation if you cancel your booking. This payment will include all applicable charges as detailed on your booking confirmation, including any insurance premiums and any Ferry costs. If payment is not received in full on time, we can treat your booking as cancelled by you for a non-refundable reason. If this happens, you will be responsible for cancellation charges (as shown in our main brochure or our website) including any deferred Booking Fee, Personal Travel Insurance and Ferry crossings that you have chosen to buy, all of which must be paid immediately.

Property Description

In a magnificent rural setting, with fabulous views of the Skiddaw mountain range, magnificent sunsets over the Solway Firth, and the hills of Galloway across the border, these comfortable holiday properties were winners of the Keswick Tourism Association Country Establishments in 2000, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 and the Cumbria in Bloom Tourist Board Rose Bowl for Self Catering Establishment winners in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Rose Cottage (ref LPD) is attached to the owner’s farmhouse home, Rosemary Cottage (ref LTG) adjoins another property, Rambling Rose Cottage (ref LWG) and Rosedale Cottage (ref LYL) are adjacent and have both been converted to a high standard, and Primrose Cottage (ref LPG) has been converted from a former byre and stands in a courtyard which is bedecked with flower tubs, window boxes and hanging baskets. The cottages are beautifully furnished and equipped to VisitBritain ‘5 Star Gold’ standard, except Rosemary Cottage which is equipped to a VisitBritain ‘4 Star Gold’ standard. Guests will enjoy the friendly rare breeds sheep and ponies (including miniature shetland ponies) and visitors are welcome to walk in the fields surrounding the farm (a red squirrel has been spotted in the grounds), as well as the many public footpaths nearby. This 500-acre farm is set in an AONB, with walks from the door plus superb fell walking nearby. Keswick stands on the shores of Derwent Water and is an excellent base to explore delightful Borrowdale. In the town itself are many interesting shops, inns and restaurants, as well as a leisure pool. Cockermouth also has a swimming pool. Just 6 miles away Bassenthwaite Lake offers a variety of watersports. Enjoy Derwent Water, Crummock Water and Buttermere, surrounded by Lakeland’s dramatic scenery. There is tennis, riding and golf, as well as good fishing locally and excellent bird watching from the farm, as well as the chance to spot the occasional red squirrel and deer, whilst it is a short drive to Osprey Watch at Dodd Wood, Bassenthwaite. Shop 4 miles. There is a good choice of pubs and restaurants locally (including vegetarian). The pretty village of Caldbeck is 4 miles, with a restaurant, tea rooms and shops. Uldale is 2 miles with a pub serving good food.

Furnished to the VisitBritain ‘5 Star Gold’ standard, this cottage has been beautifully converted retaining beams throughout. Entrance to fitted kitchen/dining room. First floor: Sitting room with wood-burning stove and French doors to small balcony with views towards lakeland fells and Solway Firth. Two bedrooms: one double with beautiful 5ft four-poster bed and one twin bedroom. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

  13. This particular cottage within the complex of five at Daleside - and almost certainly true of the other cottages in addition - benefited from top-flight furnishings, fixtures and fittings. There was no skimping on price, which was lovely to see. I can’t recall if it already says as much, but it would not go amiss to mention in the brochure just how charming and helpful the cottage owners are. Daleside has a delightful rural location and for those (like us) who self-catered throughout, it might be worth mentioning in the descriptive write-ups that major supermarket shopping should best be taken care of in Keswick (10 miles or so) since local facilities are very much more restricted. Overall, one of our best holiday-cottage experiences. July 2007.
