This charming Grade II listed holiday cottage of traditional thatch and hamstone (all of building in photograph) is set in a conservation village on the Somerset/Dorset border. Comfortably furnished and attractively decorated, it has its own garden. Explore lovely walks in nearby Ham Hill Country Park, or attractions within easy reach including Cricket St Thomas Lakes and Gardens. Many other highly regarded gardens within easy reach include Tintinhul, Lambrook Manor, Forde Abbey and great houses such as 16th-century Montacute House (NT) with its formal garden and landscaped park (4 miles). Coast 20 miles. Pub within easy walking distance. Fishing locally. Shop 75 yards.

  2. Lovely, well equipped cottage is a very pretty village. The village has a small (spar) shop and post office plus a nice pub - friendly staff but average beer and average food. In nearby Chiselborough (a 20 min walk across a couple of fields via a public footpath) there is a nice pub called the Cats Head Inn which has nicer beer. Recommend the walk up to Ham Hill and the Princes of Wales pub - a haven for thirsty dog walkers and their pooches. Dec 2011.

  12. Rose Cottage is a delightful cottage with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It is set in a picturesque village and the location is perfect for exploring the many attractions including Cheddar Gorge, Stonehenge, Weymouth, Bath, Wells etc. The cottage is spacious, comfortable, well equipped and well maintained. We found the locals very friendly and helpful and the local pub is lovely with good food on offer. Ham Hill Country Park has excellent walks and views and again a lovely pub with good food. We had a brilliant family holiday and would love to stay in Rose Cottage again soon. There was so much to do we did not have enough time to do everything so we will definitely go for a return visit. The cottage was nice and clean with good provisions. We had a lovely family holiday and would recommend this cottage and location to all. July 2009.

  14. A charming cottage in an idyllic location. The cottage was spacious and the private garden was lovely. We really enjoyed spending time in the village and enjoying the local countryside as well as having a wealth of things to do locally if we wished. The local people are very friendly and the village shop and pub being within 5 minutes walk was very convenient. We are planning to return many more times! May 2009.

  16. Rose Cottage makes the visitor feel that it is a much loved home which also welcomes visitors. It is very comfortable and is in a lovely area. If looking at beautiful gardens is your hobby, this is the place to come. The area is full of them. Sept 2007.
  17. The cottage was ’picture book’ perfect and the village was beautiful with friendly and helpful locals. The nearby pub served good food and beer and local shop supplied all the basics. The location of the cottage was found to be ideally situated for touring all the main tourist attractions. Being in the centre of Somerset meant that it was never too far to drive either north to Cheddar and Weston-super-Mare, or south to Lyme Regis and Weymouth. There was much to see and do locally too, the walking was fantastic. We will definitely return again. Aug 2006.
