Property Description

Private outdoor pool

This modern, detached villa is peacefully located on the outskirts of a village with most facilities, and enjoys a small private swimming pool (5m x 3m, depth 1.5m) with Roman steps. At only 12km from endless miles of golden sandy beaches this property provides an excellent base with a multitude of excursion possibilities. Wander around the historical sun-drenched towns of Perpignan, a Catalan city nestling between mountain and sea. Carcassonne with its world famous fortified medieval city, Beziers, the capital of the Languedoc Vineyards, a town which takes its festivals and merrymaking very seriously, and Narbonne, with treasures in its museums, religious and military architecture, the charm of the river banks of the Robine, and its shaded boulevards all contribute to its appeal to visitors. Enjoy the flora and fauna around the Bages and Sigean Lagoon, the watersports on the Leucate Lagoon, or discover the numerous Cathar castles in the region.

Shops and restaurants 0.6km.

All on ground floor: Lounge/diner, kitchen, shower room, separate toilet, 3 bedrooms: 1 queensize with en-suite bathroom and toilet, 1 double, 1 twin.

Electric heating, cot, highchair, satellite TV, DVD player, stereo/CD player, internet connection, washing machine, dishwasher, freezer, microwave, enclosed garden, patio, garden furniture, barbecue, off road parking for 2 cars. Sorry, no pets.

  1. This is a clean and well equipped property in a sleepy village location but with friendly locals in the boulangerie and grocers. It was bigger than we thought from the pictures. It is a quiet location with views up to the hill one way and the not so pretty winery the other, although for those who like wine this is a perfect location! We felt very safe. The property would suit families or a couple, but if children are young, you would probably need to be prepared to go out to the beaches etc for amusement. A car is essential. It is a very windy area, but that comes and goes and is quite welcome with the heat if you are there in the summer months. The property has a small pool, but still great fun.Worth packing floats and goggles.Within easy driving of the main roads leading to beaches for daytime or evening entertainment, historical areas, Spain and lots of markets.Lots of watersports in the area.An advantage to speak some French but a lot of people now speak English or at least enough to get by. We had a great couple of weeks and would not hesitate to recommend this property. July 2012.
  2. The cottage was beautiful, delightful-smelling, roomy, light and airy, and had many unexpected and useful pieces of equipment in the kitchen and in the garden storeroom. The wind blew fairly hard most days but this was not unwelcome, as the weather was generally very hot and sunny. The wind dropped every evening, and we regularly sat outside enjoying the view to the floodlit chapel on the hill (we climbed the hill to the chapel on the first Sunday - it is well worth the journey). The Blue Lizard restaurant was very welcoming and we had two lovely meals there, and there were various events in the evenings in the village square. We enjoyed in particular walking back through the village at 11:30 pm after one of these events, watching lizards darting up and down the still-warm walls, while bats swooped above us. We visited Carcassonne, Narbonne, Rennes-le-Chateau, Figueres(just over the border in Catalonia) and the beach at Port la Nouvelle - this sounds like a lot of driving, but in fact only Rennes-le-Chateau seemed like a long journey, as the motorways are direct and clear. We had a very good holiday, and only wish it could have been longer. The drawbacks were the lack of curtains in two of the bedrooms, and the fact that the beds in both the double rooms were hard. July 2011.
  3. Spacious, comfortable, quiet and peaceful, yet not far away from beaches and other activities and places of interest. July 2010.
