Property Description

Set in stunning surroundings with uninterrupted views over the surrounding countryside, River Cottage is a charming, self-catering, detached holiday cottage. Idyllically positioned for those seeking a tranquil and rural retreat, surrounded by magnificent scenery, close to the hamlet of Enochdhu in the heart of Perthshire. Once part of the Kindrogan Hunting Estate, the cottage is built on ‘policy ground’ and is renowned for its outstanding countryside, wildlife and dark sky location. There are an abundance of cycle and footpaths from the front door and The Cateran Trail is close by, as is Glenshee, Scotland’s largest ski area. After exploring the area, guests can relax on the terrace with a glass of wine and see deer drinking from the river, an abundance of bird life and red squirrels are frequent visitors, or go fishing for salmon. Kirkmichael is only 3 miles away and has a local shop, restaurants and pubs, Pitlochry is only 10 miles, Blairgowrie 15 miles and Perth 28 miles. Pre-arranged private mountain guiding or skiing instructions can be arranged directly with the owner. Shop 3 miles.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. River cottage is a beautiful homely place to spend time relaxing. On arriving at the cottage the owners had fresh flowers and tea, coffee and biscuits set out as a welcome after the travel. We went to spend our first holiday with our one year old daughter and had a lovely time. The local area is also beautiful with plenty of opportunity to participate in days walking in beautiful surroundings. May 2012.
  2. The area around River Cottage is some of the most spectacular in Scotland. River Cottage is one of the most peaceful places I have ever stayed and the walks along the river bank were just what my soul needed. Our host’s were discreet but always available when needed, all in all a fantastic holiday. May 2012.
  3. Lovely place, nice people but don’t expect full sky TV, internet or mobile reception. The bed may not be suitable for older or disabled people. Does need a few things fixed to bring it up to top rate. Don’t be put off though. Great scenery and wildlife. March 2012.
  4. If you want to get away from normal life this cottage is the perfect place to stay. Dec 2011.
  5. The owners were absolutely brilliant, they even took our Asda delivery in and put the cold chain in the fridge. The day before we were due to leave they also cleared the path of ice to enable us to safely load the car. Dec 2011.
  6. An excellent location for walking, once you arrive there is no need for the car. Pitlocy is a pleasant, short drive for any essentials you may need during your stay. Nov 2011.
  7. The cottage was cosy and comfortable, the road to the cottage was really bad full of potholes, but the setting outwieghed it all the river behind the cottage was wonderfull we loved the peace and quiet the surrounding were breath taking. The couple who owned the property were really nice and friendly and very hospitable who told us about the area and suggested places to visit. I would recommend staying there for a visit. Aug 2011.
  8. Everything! The location was ideal, the cottage was immaculate, warm and cosy. I would recommend anyone to visit as long as they don’t mind a rural location. One of the best cottages we have stayed in!! Feb 2011.
  9. Brilliant location, cottage was nicely and cleanly presented. Oct 2010.
  10. The location was fabulous, if you want peace and quiet this is the place. Oct 2010.
  11. This property has a lovely remote feeling despite being next door to the owners, the views are exceptional & the local area brilliant for walking straight from the cottage. The cottage has all the conveniences to be expected with the added benefit of internet access. Sept 2010.
  12. Lovely cottage, very convenient and comfortable. Remote and completely private: friendly owners live in detached house next door, so you feel secure, but you are not overlooked. Perfect for a romantic get-away (though ours was a family holiday). Maybe next time! Aug 2010.
  13. Lovely location and cosy property. April 2010.
  14. Great geographical position for accessing the Cairngorms and the central highlands. Veranda over looking the river. July 2009.
  15. A beautiful little cottage in an idyllic location situated amongst some of Scotland’s most stunning scenery. Feb 2009.
  16. ’Isolated’ area, ideal for walking and wildlife observation. May 2009.
