This charming 18th century terraced cottage was originally situated near an important local water source. Belper was at the forefront of the Industrial Revolution. Visit Strutts North Mill Museum, part of a World Heritage Site, found next to the beautiful Belper River Gardens. The Peak District National Park offers activities including walking, cycling, climbing, caving and visiting historic country estates such as Chatsworth. There is sailing and fishing at nearby Carsington Water. Take a vintage tram ride at the Crich Tramway Village or a cable car trip up to the Heights of Abraham in the spa town of Matlock Bath.

Ground floor: Living room with tiled floor. Kitchen. Winding stairs to first floor: 1 double bedroom. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet. Winding stairs to second floor: 1 twin bedroom (2ft 6in for children) with sloping ceiling, Velux. Beams throughout. Limestone floor on first floor.

Multi-fuel burner in living room (initial fuel included). Gas central heating, gas, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot. High chair. DVD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Enclosed lawned garden with patio and furniture. On road parking (40 yards). No smoking. NB: 7 steps in garden.

  1. Nice spacious accommodation, not suitable for anyone with mobility problems as stairs to bedrooms quite steep. Parking not really a problem, but make sure your handbrake is in good working order! Good location for all major attractions. July 2012.
  2. Lovely place, surprisingly in the middle of town, and all amenities were very close. The available details for the local hiking areas and visiting suggestions were a bonus. Sept 2011.
  3. We booked the cottage because we wanted a space that we could relax in and the photos of it looked really tasteful. It’s a great place to get away to - a beautiful little house with a peaceful feel to it. The owners have thought of everything... small amount of wood left for the woodburner, collection of DVDs to watch if you fancy, books for adults and children, lots of local leaflets, salt and pepper cellars. High quality bedding, towels etc. Lovely views. We stayed for 2 nights, would’ve loved to have stayed for longer. Belper’s got a lot going for it, Ashbourne nearby is lovely - plenty of antique shops and independent cafes. We went on a beautiful walk from Wetton Mill, a 5.5m circular that took in Thors Cave on the way back - amazing! Would love to visit the property again. June 2011.
  4. Property was just right for us but it is on the ’cosy’ side! The house has all that we needed, including heating, towels, all necessary equipment etc for a stay. The garden was great for us, not big if you have children but perfectly adequate for those wanting a BBQ! The cottage is in the perfect location for exploring the Peaks, parking isn’t immediately outside the door but we didn’t have any trouble finding space and it wasn’t far at all from the car to the house. I would certainly recommend to others - couples, groups of friends and small families. April 2011.
