Property Description

These charming semi-detached holiday cottages are located in the extensive grounds of the owner’s idyllic 16th century home, surrounded by an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, known as ’The Sandlings’. Furnished to a very good standard, the cottages are an ideal place to relax and unwind. The location is a bird watchers, cyclists and walkers paradise with immediate access to footpaths. The RSPB reserve at Minsmere and the beach at Dunwich are both a 1 mile walk. The pretty village of Westleton is also within 1 mile with 2 pubs, restaurant and shop. Within a short drive are the seaside gems of Southwold with its lighthouse and colourful beach huts, and Walberswick, famous for its annual crabbing contest. The rest of Suffolk Heritage Coast including Aldeburgh, Orford and Snape Maltings is also within easy reach whilst further inland are the historic towns of Woodbridge and Framlingham. NB. Property refs 24135 and 24136 can be booked together to accommodate upto 10 guests.

All on ground floor Living/dining room with French doors and sofa bed (for alternative sleeping). Kitchen. 2 bedrooms: 1 double (zip and link), 1 twin with 2 additional pull-out singles. Bathroom with shower over bath. Separate toilet.

Both properties: Oil central heating included (£35per week, £25 per short break November-March). Electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot. High chair. DVD and small library. CD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Shared access of owners’ grounds. Ample parking. No smoking. Friday to Friday.

  1. Uneven track of approximately. 4 of a mile to the property but ok if taken slowly. Very pleasant location. Within easy reach of Southwold, Aldburgh, Dunwich etc. Sept 2012.
  2. May Cottage is situated on the edge of a wood down a long gravel drive. Beautiful location, a good two miles out of Westleton but due to our children being quite small, meant we had to drive everywhere. The owners were very helpful and suggested places to visit. The cottage is only 10-15 minutes from picturesque Southwold, 20 mins from Aldebrough and a very quick drive to ’Africa Alive’ which the kids adored. Another ’hidden gem’ was Dunwich Heath, we did the Nature Trail and sampled the cafe! March 2012.
  3. Well equipped, nice quiet secluded grounds, great host living very near. Will probably go again. We went there to be near to Minsmere and other birding areas. Jan 2011.

  5. May Cottage is well off the beaten track and offers many excellent walks in the local area. It is actually around a mile and a half from the nearest pubs and shop but I would recommend the "White Horse" in Westleton. The cottage itself was very well presented and the owners, who live close by, were very friendly and welcoming. June 2011.

  13. It was very clean and spacious, great for an active toddler. It had everything we needed and more. Decorated to a high standard yet still homely. We loved everything apart from we felt the bathroom was a bit small and could probably have had a bit more storage space for products etc. Possibly a folding door would make things a bit easier.   19. Lovely quiet location. The cottage was very comfortable and the owners were very welcoming and helpful. It is a marvelous location for walking straight from the cottage through heath and woodland and only a short distance from the coast. June 2009.
